This is my first post about the 'Secret' project. I have been influenced by West Wind new Empire of The Dead game thats recently just come out the figures are fantastic and I like the sound of the game. Quite a change to Modern and Spy fi as its set in the late 1800s in the Victorian era.
Here is the background of the game
As you can see it has a little supernatural/steampunk feel (not to much steam punk but enough).Werewolf, Vampire, Gentlemen (Good and Evil) and the Brotherhood (religious faction I believe) and some other factions in the works.
I have ordered the rulebook (with limited edition fig) but to start with I intend to merge it with my zombie Wargaming in that my No More Room In Hell campaign is now going to be set in this time period. Having seen Irqan's ATZ campaign in the early 1900's over at Plastic Zombie. Its refreshing to see something so different his ATZ campaign starts here its an excellent read I highly recommend it.
My Campaign is going to be set in and around a small rural town. Background is being worked on but I'm not happy with some of it s it will be published later. I will still be doing modern zombie gaming but this will hopefully get me started off quicker. First games and reports are set for the end of this month as thats the deadline I've set myself.
This week I've been working on all sorts. I've made some card ruins and a house (roof needs finishing and some bits tweaking scale creep!) which need to finish being painted. I've painted some Mantic Zombies which will go with both settings. This the first batch, each batch of six will have different coloured clothing so as to mix them up a bit. These where undercoated white, flesh and gore bits done then washed all over in Ogryn flesh. The bases aren't done yet as I will do all 30 when finished.
I'm doing a batch of zeds then two characters. I'll show the characters later this week as one is finished and the other half done.
I've also bought an Outhouse from 4Ground link here. So I can have a play with these snap together buildings. They are quite reasonably priced so my town/village will probably include quite a few of there buildings.
Hey Brumster, as you know from my blog I have a shedload of victorian minis whcih were from Ironclad miniatures - check them out and their steamtanks are superb. Thanks for the pics of the mantic zeds, I've been wondering about getting some of them for my VSF/ESF and now I will.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the project and I look forward to seeing posts on it!
The mantic Zombies are really nice. Glad I changed my mind and got some plastic over the rant I had with the WGF ones!
DeleteI Intend on picking a few up I like the Mina Harker figure in particular.
I knew you're a bit too interested in EOTD! Mixing them is great idea and I can't wait to see you play out NMRIH in victorian age. Just so awesome. I think NMRIH is basic enough that you shouldn't have too much trouble converting it to victorian age. Just rename the weapons to avoid the points work, drop out the too modern ones, play vehicles as carriages and you're good to go! :D
ReplyDeleteCould resist it!
DeleteThe cool thing is a lot of stuff is covered especially melee weapons wise. Plus they have a lot of techy weapons in EotD so could stand in for the more modern weapons
Nice, something different, look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you do with EotD!
ReplyDeleteSo you succumbed to the lure of EotD! I'm still tempted myself so I'll be very interested to see how you progress with this. Best of luck, Simon!
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged!
DeleteEoTD definitely seems to be sweeping the nations, eh? I hope you enjoy it, and look forward to your reports on it, which you've pinned yourself down to with a deadline of this month.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Cheers I'm fired up more about this than anything so far! Here's to the deadline!
DeleteI have a couple of club members who are intrested in EotD. I would be spreading myself too thin with yet another project. But I will be very interested in how it comes along.
ReplyDeleteLove the ghouls. I think I shall get some as Rage zombies.
They game itself isn't that much to get into you only need small bands of warriors so your talking £80.00 start and thats only if you buy the official stuff.
ReplyDeleteFor terrain if you play warhammer or mordhiem or simliar then terrain can be borrowed!
"I can resist anything but temptation"
DeleteLet me know how many figures I'd need. I think I can already make a "Gentlemans" club from my 28mm wild west figures. Maybe mix some Gunfighters in black dusters in with a few Chthulu cultists... one quick paint job later and Bretheren emerge. Werewolves would be harder, don't thnk I have anything suitable. Stone angels for Vanps... you know maybe I don't need a big outlay at all.!!!
DeleteI think depending on what gear you choose a Gents clubs has between 5 and 7 starting members
DeleteGood luck with this project brummie, i'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later you will succumb to Victorian horror and science fiction! Don't deny it. You want to do it. Convert now, brother! :-) LoL
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how this game plays out.
Sounds like your gonna be very busy. I'll look forward to seeing this project expanding.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a cool project. I like how your Mantic Zeds came out. I'll be watching for more.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be cool!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hear your take on this.
Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteThese must be one of the coolest zombies i've seen! Feels like they're really coming for us. Nice painting job as well. The Steampunk/Victorian background is very appealing... Good luck on your project!
ReplyDeleteThanks they are a very nice it and reasonably priced. My only issue is you kind limited with the three bodies. But they are plastic and you can bend and chop to your hearts content. Alot of people have mixed them with the Ghouls set as well
