Empire of the Dead Brotherhood Part 2 Complete

Finished off the last four members of the Brotherhood boxed set on Monday night whilst watching the final hours of the kickstarter some fantastic concept artwork has been shown especially for the Nemo themed group.  I'm really chuffed for Andy and Wendy they have ran a fantastic kickstarter and I'm so glad it reached all of its goals. There is going to be some very impressive miniatures coming out later in the year. I can't wait for June to get my backer stuff !!

In the meantime it gives me chance to catch up on the figures I already have. Next up will be the vampires a few more criminal types i've made a Dredger type character for the first Sherlock Holmes movie he's not quite as scruffy looking but he's big! I need to get hold of the zombies set and a few more of the Gents and Jackanape characters to complete the EotD collection so far.

There was a lot more work to do on these brother's namely the red clothing, torch's and armour. Not set on the torch's yet they look ok. However I feel they need something but I can't put my finger on what they need so any suggestions please make them!

First up the leader of the faction 'The Deacon' lovely pose on this miniature and he looks battle hardened with the scar down his face also carrying a holy relic to smite those of evil inclinations. I painted the cloak separately and attached it afterwards quite like how this guy turned out lots of nice little details like the cross on the sword hilt  and breastplate.

Another character for the faction 'The Confessor' another nice sculpt with lots of little details the eye patch suggest another character who is battle hardened. Slightly less ornate but still has the sheathed sword, mace and torch for burning the unholy!

The last two Brothers are both armed with crossbow. The brother with the torch and eye patch is my favourite of the crossbow armed ones.

A shot of the four additions.

Shot of the entire group so far.

The Knight Marshall

There is a third character for the faction 'The Knight Marshall' which sounds very Paladin like. There isn't a specific figure been done yet. So its quite open to interpretation. I've got into thinking of perhaps a fantasy monk type character but I'm still undecided at the minute.

From the rulebook the description is as follows.

The Knight Marshall is the warrior of the Faction. He is God's retribution on the unholy, a holy spirit manifested in physical form. He prefers to fight the enemies of God face-to-face.

So Paladin type? monk with mystical powers? what do you good folks think. I'm looking for ideas.

Empire of the Dead Brotherhood part 1

Being snowed in has at least given me the opportunity to get some miniatures finished this weekend, I nearly have the whole set done but the other four need a few more bits finished off as they have torch's, armour and swords in scabbards which all need finishing off.

Anyhow here are the first four Brothers ready to vanquish evil. I see my Brotherhood as the church's soldiers in disguise so as to not alarm the population. I decided they would wear a red uniform underneath there monks robes which they used to hide there militant bearing and armaments. Not so visible on these first four but you'll see what I mean when I get the other four done.

They can choose from quite a variety of gear including firearms but the basic set has most of the Brothers armed with Crossbows, swords, maces and revolvers. The Requiem kickstarter will add various firearms plus a some more crossbow armed brothers.

First up is a crossbow armed brother I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed painting robes and they are quite easy to make look effective. I decided to paint them brown so as to look like monks habits and be more incognito. This Brother is taking aim. Seeing as red was going to be the uniform under the robes these four brothers had to have red added as a spot colour to tie them all together somehow. I decided to paint Quivers, Pouches and the leather thongs that are on the bottom of some of the maces. Some of the Brothers have eye patch's (still being done) which have been painted red as well. More on those later in the week hopefully after the next paint session.

Second Brother armed with Crossbow. more of an advancing pose than a combat one but its nice to have different poses.

First of two brothers armed with mace's and revolver's I wasn't to keen on these miniatures at first but the revolvers after painting them up have changed my mind and I quite like them. This guy just had a little pouch painted red.

The second brother from the set armed with mace and revolver more of a close combat type pose on this one. I painted the thong on the bottom of the mace red to tie it in with the others.

Group shot of the four so far.

Requiem Kickstarter is doing well and as the time of writing this post is nearly approaching the 75'000 mark which once reached will unlock the next Limited Edition figure 'The Specimen' this guys isn't showing in the ladder yet but has been added so that the weapon and head conversion sets will be more permanent additions to the range. As it stands those who've pledge at a Requiem level will stand to get 10 Limited Edition figures once finished. I'm hoping we hit the 90k mark as I quite like the idea of The Phantom, Raphael and Great Uncle Thulu sound brilliant as figures.

Heres the armed brother set add some much need firepower and filling most gaps in the range for this faction.

Victorian Thug's and another Big Thank you

Finished off my Victorian Thugs this week they will mainly be used for a Criminal gang if rules get reached in the kickstarter. But of course Empire of the dead is so versatile I can use Gentlemen faction rules and re-skin it for criminals. Also the close combat equipped members can add numbers to the Lycaon faction as Wolfskin's. Not the greatest of sculpts but they'll fill out the ranks nicely.

The set is from Wargames Foundry's Victoriana Range Armed N'ver Do Wells pack, I haven't finished the fifth member of the pack yet who is a pistol armed lady as I haven't thought of a use for her at present.

Edit At Scott's request add a comparison picture with some Empire of the Dead Lycaon Wolfskin's

Just realised I haven't painted the neckerchief or whatever its called on the knuckle duster guy.

I've also got another big Thank you!
This Time to Fenris Games.
Every so often on Facebook he gives away miscast bases and such and on Monday I managed to get first dibs on some lovely 30mm DS Innsmouth Cobblestone bases.
They came yesterday and they are lovely just needs sanding down a little. They will be perfect for Empre of the Dead as well and I shall be using some on my Vampires.

I shall certainly be ordering some more products from Fenris Games as no doubt the time saved sculpting will help me when I get my stuff from the EotD Requiem Kickstarter

Empire of the Dead Requiem Kickstarter news.

Some awesome updates have been put upto day a painted version of the Steam Exo Skeleton.
The background to the Exo Skeleton

An original design from Prof Jerusalem, this magnificent machine was originally made as a heavy lifting workhorse. Quickly taken up by the military and other organisations, it is now in common use.

Also some more concept art has been added for the Clickers faction!!

The Clickers Background

The Clickers are a New Faction for EotD, they are a race of automata that have realised a collective or hive intelligence through their exposure to Infernium. Becoming semi-sentient they have discovered the ability to self replicate and adapt their selves to various tasks. This guy is the Spider, his job is to capture humans and carry them off to the Jerusalem Iron Works for dissection.
With the discovery of Infernium, it became possible to create all manner of mechanical wonders. A tiny crystal fleck would power a mighty mechanical engine for what seemed like all eternity. Machine servants became commonplace, most famously the marvellous Mechanical Man Servant engineered by the Jerusalem Iron Works established by the reclusive Professor Jerusalem.
What went wrong we don’t yet know? The great gates of Jerusalem are chained shut. The Professor has not been seen publicly for three years and yet, the mighty chimney stacks of hells own foundry still belch forth dark satanic clouds.

March Update

Not been getting a lot finished off to show lately work is being done on my Brotherhood for Empire of the Dead as well as some generic reinforcements for the factions. Using some Foundry Armed N'ver Do wells I plan to use them to add numbers to any of the various factions. These are all nearly basecaoted and shading needs to be started once I've tidied up a few bits.

I've started to clean and prepare the Vampire boxed set a couple of cheap metal wolves though 25mm they are little bit smaller than the current ones i have but they are nice figures and only cost me a few quid of ebay. The next Jackanape has been built (choice of hat added) and the base done on the Circ Du Noir Man Ape.

Beside that I've done a fair bit of reading and watching TV series

Ripper Street has really caught my interest. At first I thought it was going to be all about the Ripper Murder's which was not really my cup of tea but after reading about it on the Lead Adventure forum I though i'd give the first episode a watch and was hooked instantly. Its really good it touches on a lot of different topics, child gangs and the Fagins that run them,  Disgruntled retired soldiers, Anarchists, Engineering discovery's. A little bit about the ripper murders new advances in technology (at the time of course).  Only eight episodes I soon burned through them on I Player and am looking forward to a second series (rumours of the set being booked for a few months Clancy Barracks in Dublin).

The main characters all have interesting backgrounds Sergeant Drake (played by Jerome Flynn) has to be my favourite character of the main trio.

BBC Website on the Show

IMDB Ripper Street

Books wise I've been going through some classic tale, Bram Stokers Dracula, A Princess of Mars and the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes all books I really can't believe I've not read them earlier they are marvellous go read them. The other bonus of these classic books they are free if you have a kindle or use Amazon's reader.

The Requiem Kickstarter is doing really good and is steadily climbing and is nearly at the 60'000 mark huzzah. The next stretch goal is Deathlock Bones and the Bad Doctor. Which is looking to be hit tomorrow fingers crossed!

Empire of the Dead Requiem Kickstarter.

As you can tell I love Empire of the Dead, its background and factions are great and offer a great deal of differing backgrounds for gaming whether its smoggy London streets, Countryside villages, Castles, Sewers and even the underground of Paris's infamous catacomb's.

I've already made my pledge into the Requiem kickstarter and plan to expand if funds allow by the time it finish's

The Stretch goals have now been expanded as they were fast approaching the £60'000 Stretch Goal. Its possible with the new goals to get upto 14 awesome figures for FREE if they reach the 90'000. You can get some great deals all less than what the RRP will be when released in the shops.
