Zomtober Week 5. The end!

Only managed to get 3 survivors finished from the Walking Dead All Out War game this week. Have been busy painting......the kitchen LOL. So yeah not had much time this week as the other half is hosting a Jewellry party for a friend which originally was meant to be the week after but has been brought forward a week..

I did get the next 8 cleaned, based and primed. In the end I decided the textured GW paint was to expensive and use my normal Milliput method of basing. I have ran out of varnish so when I get some will be adding a bit of flock and some tufts to add a bit of greenery.

I decided to go for a brown bases being as most of the Walking Dead is set in rural areas and will fit in on my own post apoc board. I have some barricades done already and a few cars. I plan to pick up some tents from Renedra and have got some trees I need to base up as I prefer 3D terrain over the card stuff provided in the game. Mats i'm still not sure on yet. I need to put my thinking cap on about them. I'd love my own boards but then its always vs Time to so!

Sophia and Carol

Abraham currently the only version and was a Kickstarter exclusive but is currently available for Mantic Points.

These guys again but based, I have dirtied them up a bit and much happier with them now.

Whats next well more Walking Dead All out War figures. There are a lot more Survivors in the next row I am doing. We have Rick and Carl. Derek, Patrick and Sandra some Survivors from Woodbury or raiders I think that Rick and Co cross in the comics.  A guy called Leon who I am trailing back through the comics to find and 2 more zombies. So another 8 in total. I am hoping to have as many as I can finished by Christmas.

Thanks to all who participated this year there has been some awesome efforts by many of you all. Well done!

Zomtober Week 4 Zombies at last!

Didn't all go to plan this week, Had hope to get Abraham, Sophia and Carol finished also but not got them to a point where I am happy just yet. The bases aren't finished on these yet I am planning on getting some the GW Texture paints and having a play but it will have to wait until payday. Eventually the bases will have some sort of texture with grass and tufts added. The base rims will probably be done in black.

The game is pretty cool I am enjoying it a lot. I've also been catching up with the comics to the point where I am upto date with the tv series. (Well nearly just meeting Ezekiel in the comics).  Its nice to see how spot on the likenesses are to some of the characters visually as well as the events unfolding/tweaked between the two.

I think moving forward from Zomtober going to try and get a survivor and two zombies a week done time being available. Hopefully I well get the 3 Survivors done and get some others started for next weeks final post.

Zomtober Week 3 More Girls and Barricades and Stuff.

Only two more Survivor/Zombie Hunters this week again but another two off the long lingering paint table. Again both from Hasslfree miniatures one of my favourite 28mm manufacturers.

First up is Dakota who I assume is based on Alice from Resident Evil or some incarnation of her. It took me a while to work out how I wanted to differentiate all the different brown shades without it all blurring into one colour. I am not 100% happy but can't put my finger on exactly what I am not happy about with her. But I am calling her done.

Next up is Lisa Lambaste who is meant to be an ode to Ramona Flowers from the Scott Pilgrim vs The World movie. Which I am yet to see all the way through lol! I pretty much googled Ramona then picked a scheme/outfit I liked.

Derby Worlds show last Saturday. It had change venue from Donnington Racetrack for some reason I forget to recall. It has now moved to near Lutterworth up the road from Rugby. It still had a good turn out trader wise and is one of the bigger shows around the area. However the traders were a bit cramped and the food was a bit on the expensive side for what it was. It was good to see Karl at Crooked Dice there it was wonderful to see all the cabinets of painted miniatures and got some tasty sneak peeks of upcoming releases.

My main purchase of the day was after visiting the Mantic Games stand. I had been contemplating picking up the Walking Dead: All Out War game for a while. I'd started to save up some paypal as I had noticed some KS edition's available on the Mantic site which pretty much were a bargain for what they contained. I got a demo in from Rob Burman at the Mantic stand on the day the game seems fun easy to pick up yet has some good tactical elements available. They also happened to have a Kickstarter Edition on the stand so boom! I bought it lol. I also picked up the show only Lee and Clementine booster. After perusing the various traders I ended up returning and picking up a Tyresse booster rounding out my purchases for the day.

I manged to play a few games using the quickstart rules mainly solo just to get a feel for the rules. The Zombies interactions and behaviour are pretty cool. I am looking forward to teaching Carmen the game then getting in some proper games. This weekend I have cleaned up a bunch of stuff from the main set and primed it ready for painting. 6 Zombies, Sofia, Carol and Abraham. I will see how I get on this week numbers wise Ignore the part painted zombie I finished it last year but it has got damaged so I intend on repairing the paint job this week whilst doing these zombies flesh.

I also got spurred on to finish off some terrain for my games this week as these have sat primed grey for far to long. Pretty much doing bits here and there over the week has got them all done so I am quite chuffed and will come in handy for many games Batman included.

Zomtober Week 2 Here come the Girls

Also got a game in of 7TV on Wednesday night with Pulp Citizen using the Free Scooby Player guide mission 'The Search' It was good way to test out the tweaked Scooby Apocalypse Profiles I made using Jorge's awesome card creator.

LINK

The Game was 30 Ratings aside. With The Scooby Apocalypse crew on one side vs Dr Oetker and his zombie horde and pride of joy Maruading Monster Mr Squishy.

Law enforcement officer have recieved a phone call from Professor Kipling muttering about being chased by the walking dead and a giant slimy monsters and something about his Trioxin 5 recipe wanted by some Terrible old boy called Dr Oetker who wanted it for his own ends. The local Police a bit spooked by this talk of a giant slimy monster asked the Mystery Inc Exterminators to give them a hand in investigating this mystery and set off to find Professor Kipling.

Mystery Inc Exterminators. Assisted by local Law enforcement officers.

Dr Oetker's, Mr Squishy and a horde of Zombies.
Dr Oetker's zombies and Mr Squishy surge forward in search of the Trioxin 5 recipe carried by Professor Kipling.

Officer Sandy one of the local cops searches near the containers seeing some shambling creatures coming towards her pops off a shot with her pistol downing one of them.

Shaggy and Scooby advance looking for clues for Professor Kiplings whereabouts.
Ever resourceful and clever Velma investigates the first clue and out of the shadows appears Professor Kipling! (PC rolled a 1 on the first clue finding the Professor straight away!)

The Professor found so quickly. Fred, Officer Mike and Daphne all take on the shambling horde advancing down the road thinning there numbers with accurate pistol fire.

Forming a firing line the horde is thinned substantially. Mr Squishy leaps forward in a giant bound smashing Officer Mike into paste.

Pics where to blurry so a summary of the final turns.
Dr Oetker and his cohort of zombies exchange fire with Officer Sandy and Velma thinning his escort down and get injured by Velma's shotgun. The good doctor returns fire killing Officer Sandy and wounding and stunning Velma.

Mr Squishy and the child zombies enter into a swirling melee in the centre with Scooby, Shaggy and Fred killing a few more Zombies but mr Squishy kept regenerating. Daphne however kept shouting and sqealing distracting Mr Squishy and his friends. Trapped in combat they were unable to reach her. (Danger Magnet forcing all strikes to be made at Daphne but because they were engaged I couldn't attack Fred, Scooby or Shaggy or leave combat for fear of receiving the inevitable free strikes.

The Professor quickly left the scene Velma recovered and backed off, Daphne continued her distraction whilst Mr Squishy was hacked and chopped by Fred and Shaggy.

The game ended with 3 Vp's  to 0 to te Mystery Inc cast for getting the Professor Kipling safely off the table.

This was more to try out zombies in the 7TV setting they are quite fun enmass but chew up a lot of Plot Points to get them moving. I think I am going to pick up some special zombies and reskin some of the creatures from the Paranormal guide to add a bit of variety. They are very slow to but tactics mitigates this somewhat allowing you to move another 2 zombies within 6" a 2" move for free when activating a zombie.

Here are the profile cards I made. These are basically the same as the ones in the Free Scooby fan made guide. Just tweaked Daphne slightly swapping Hide for Lucky and increasing her fight and shoot stats. (This is all in the Producer's guide PG 16 printed book). with weapons added/swapped. These may need resizing to sleeve them. I made a word document and pasted these into it as you just right click the image and change the dimensions to 130mm wide by 88mm high
