Hasslefree Palin

The fifth and final Hasslefree Juvenile from the Mantic/Hasslefree set is Palin armed with his trusty chainsaw. I had a bit of fun with this guy and tried to paint on a skull to the back of his jacket. It looks OK but my freehand isn't its best. I might try this again but perhaps on a figure that isn't in a twisted pose.

A Group shot of the set and another with some of my other Juvenile miniatures.

  6. I love this mini, this is the only Hasslefree juvenile I currently own. I think the skull looks awesome! It may not be a perfect skull, but the way it's come out, does look like the type of artwork that would appear on a child's clothing. Good job on it Simon.

  7. You've gotta love a kid with a chainsaw! To hell with health and safety. Just let the kid loose on a bunch of zombies! Nice one, Simon! I love the group shots as well.

    1. Indeed chainsaw's are brutal, I may do a one off zombie game with kids vs zombies for a laugh. Need to have a think about stats though.

  8. Freehand looks good to me (I don't freehand for fear of failure!) also I never paint eyes; there is something wrong with seeing eyes on a bloke at 300 metres distance...

Do you have any experience of the Zombicide game? I only ask as I fancy buying it and I'm looking for trustworthy reviews...

    1. Thanks, I'm still practising with eyes. Though I'm going to try a micro pen a some point which is why I just painted the whites in.

I don't have Zombicide I'm afraid I do like the look of it though and may pick it up in the future.

Why don't you join up at Board of the Living Lead. We do everything zombie here, board games, wargames, movies, books, all sorts take a look theres a few guys who play zombicide there.

  17. It's a great model Brummie, and the skull was obviously done by the kid - it'll also pass the arm's-length two foot rule. We alll can see what it is.
The gang is now complete then ? They look great en-masse.

  18. Thanks Joe. They are complete enough for my BOTLL Diorama but I may still add a few figures.

  19. Nice one brummie.. :)
About the freehand, a friend of mine ( and multi golden daemon winner) teached me to avoid to draw the design directly on the model. You should try with a darker and wathered shade to outline what you want to freehand and, with lighter shades you should then "sharpen" the freehand design... I don't know if I was able to really explain what I wanted... Sorry... ^_^'
