Proved useful in the end was nice to just have the radio on caught up on some reading and started and finished all the remaining Exterminators and based the lot. Happy days!
Onto the pictures I now have 20 Marines finished and 2 Sentry guns. These are all the current packs that Khurasan do for this range. I have seen some snippets off new additions but they've not been released yet.
I shall have to get a few more basic squads mainly to get some more riflemen. I have quite a few special weapons its seems.
Onto the pictures! Thanks must go to Mr.Harold of Clear Horizon 15mm Sci-Fi who helped me decide on how to base them. Basically Black with a light dry brush of Grey the clincher being it would work in a Space ship environment as well.
I've taken a few scenic pics and the some of them in the packs they come in from Khurasan. The sentry guns come with packing crates but i'm not sure what to do with them yet as they won't really perform an in game function as I see it so they will get painted up and used as scenery.
Sentry Guns deployed and seeking targets. |
Exterminator Sniper takes position and monitors for enemy patrols |
Sentry Gun Pack |
Left to Right Missile Launchers x2 , Commander, Plasma Rifles x2 and Sniper |
Left To Right Smart Gunner, Medic, Wounded, Smart Gunner and Medic. I left the cases unmarked so I can use the medics as riflemen as the case could be anything. |
The Basic Squad, Sergeant, Flame Thrower and 2x Smart Gunners. More of these will be need to provide more riflemen. |
The Whole Force so Far ready for Varnishing. |
What to paint next..... Hmmm got Queen cleaned and Assembled and the 3 Predators. 20 Drones are still sitting in there packets but need to raid the piggy bank for Pennies for bases.
Earthquakes down here in NZ have us all a little nervy. Like the sci fi dudes in the natural light. Great work.
ReplyDeleteVery scary mate! Thanks :D
DeleteYou are really plowing through these. I remember when you thought you'd never be able to paint at 15mm. You're doing a fine job with these. Nice weathering and the look like they've seen some real action.
ReplyDeleteCheers Anne, the first lot took longer as I painted them a bit to much like 28's the second I got through a lot quicker :D
DeleteDamn nice with the sentry guns and marines, I painted up the sentry gun crates as scenery or as a before and after option for transport!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran, Yeah thats what i'm going to do I think just not sure whether to paint it as military crates or civilian cargo ones.
DeleteBlack and grey bases are a versatile choice and will fit urban and a lot of rural settings and as you say even inside Starships.
ReplyDeleteLightning strike 18 feet away. WOW that is close. I suggest you buy a lottery ticket you are obviously lucky at the moment.
Yeah I thought so as soon as mr.harold mentioned it.
DeleteYeah I think I need to as well.
nice to hear you survived the storm, Simon!
ReplyDeleteLovely figures and it's lovely that you took them outside for some fresh air :)
Thanks and thanks the weather was great ice lollies all round
DeleteOh, they're great! I like medic and the wounded one. Quite useless but always something I miss among my miniatures!
ReplyDeleteThanks mate, They still have slung rifles and the cases could be spare ammo or something.
DeleteVery Nice Brummie, you have done them justice, I think the terrain will be the real challenge, any ideas yet ?
ReplyDeleteThanks. At the minute it will be a few buildings. I have been hoarding bits and bobs for a while. Making will be ok it will be the painting that will be the challenge :)
DeleteI've been thinking of a derelict space ship as well but its only rough and needs ironing out
Great looking marines!! not easy to paint 15mm models :)
ReplyDeleteCheers not bad really to paint them I might scratch the fantasy itch with some 15mm stuff.
DeleteYou're really getting into this aren't you; very nice indeed Simon.
ReplyDeleteThanks and yes they are great. Aliens have are now being cleaned and prepped this evening.
DeleteWow that lighting strike must have scared toe crap out of the family. The marines look great now its time to see some aliens.
ReplyDeleteThanks the Aliens are being prepped the kids where really quite scared. It obviously passed right over which is a new experience for me
DeleteVery cool figures, Simon. I love the out of doors photography too. Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean :D
DeleteYou're definitely getting the hang of this scale in a hurry Simon. Nice job all round. It reminds me that I need to paint up my sentry guns too!
ReplyDeleteThanks buddy, once I'd got the hang of it there quite easy to get done in batch's :D
DeleteFirst load of Drones and Queen has been prepped and built might undercoat them later today at some point.
Prolific has taken a new step change. Awesome stuff Simon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks its surprised me how quick they are to do tbh. THe Drones will probably be quicker but intend on gloss varnishing certain bits and have to buy some :D
DeleteNot a gloss, but Vallejo do a Satin varnish which is brush on; Mr Models may have it in stock.
DeleteAwesome I keep meaning to pop in there to look at he 1/72 kits for dropship ideas i'll pop in after payday saves me going to Waylands for some as Town I'm hoping to avoid thanks to the tunnels being closed
DeleteA word of caution; one of the guys there is very good, the other not so much. I don't go in as much as I used to for that reason. But they do stock Vallejo = 'a good thing' for me.
DeleteCheers dude i'll bare that in mind :D
DeleteI really like these figures mate and I think I will be turning to the dark side myself. That was one heck of a storm on Monday night and I was so knackered for work the next day
ReplyDeleteThanks mate. Its great for little projects though i'm already looking at expanding it with other races/factions uh oh!
DeleteWasn't it just!
Really liked the last two posts. Those are great miniatures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam, nice to see your still around. Hows it going?
DeleteFantastic work Adam, the photos remind me of when we used to play 40k outdoors, street fighting we used to call it
ReplyDeletelol thanks mate yeah i've done that at my parents a huge 40K battle on the lawn between me and a mate.
DeleteThese are cracking mate. Have you found a place in the UK to order Khurasan miniatures from or do you get them from the States? oh by the way found and added some crap pics to my Bushido AAR.
ReplyDeleteCheers Carl, No I order them direct just order £15 worth at a time which is still a fair bit of stuff and is below the customs threshold.
DeleteThe first order was all the Exterminiators and the second all my Drones (24), Queen and 3 Predators.
I'm placing an order with Micropanzer next for some bits to go with the preds so fingers crossed for that one but it only works out around $8 so should be fine.
I'll go and check out the pics then :D
