Burrows and Badgers Shrew Shaman Jingle Jangle

Great news on Alfie has his blood tests this week and had the results Friday night and they have all returned to normalish levels. Medication continues and will need blood tests again in a few weeks time to see how things are going! So fingers crossed all good, even better he can now go out for walks as normal!

Painting wise I have been working on a couple more B&B figures this week. The Shrew Shaman and the Squirrel Knight. The knights not quite finished but I am hoping to get him done over the weekend as he probably only one more painting session away from being finished.

The Shrew Shaman is another cool figure he has got lots of cool little details like the bones here and there on his cloak and belt. But I like the fact he has got a fur and feather cloak giving me the opportunity to have a play with colours that I want to use on other characters later on (mainly the fox and sparrows I have to do).

The only bit I am unsure about his bag. Most mage type characters can use spell ingredients to boost there spells in game but in order to do this need to be equipped with a magic bag/pouch so I tried to recreate that by making the bag look a little bit fancier. Not sure if it works but happy with it for now.

Group shot of the first 6 figures finished. I think they look good as a group.

  3. Glad to hear Alfie's on the mend. One of ours has had an apocalyptic bout of diaorhhoea this week and the other one ran into a tree at full speed while chasing a squirrel! They're both fine now but feeling very sorry for themselves.

Love the Shaman. I've resisted Burrows and Badgers so far but it's getting harder to say no!

    1. Thanks you! My mum's Jack Russell keeps running into the garden steps full pelt and knocking self senseless. To quick for his own good!

Don't resist heed the siren call of the woodlands!

  8. Alfie the wonder dog. I am sure everyone wishes him well. I would be grateful if you can give him a little pat from me. Gently, nothing too rough.

Painting looks good. I am still not convinced this is a project for me personally but I do really enjoy the painting, so please keep posting!

    1. I shall give him an extra big hug with your name on it!

I get where you coming from I even had a conversation with Pulp Citizen regarding these animals last year and it wasn't one where I was starting a new project i'll tell you that!

  9. Excellent painting, as always which personally I would think wasted, even if the sculpts are good.
Excellent news on Alfie too, let's hope his recuperation is swift.

    1. Thanks Joe. I am not sure I follow your line of thinking? What in particular do you feel is wasted?

  10. Model looks great, though it’s a little hard for me to tell what the Schrew is wearing.
I’m about to listen to the M&M podcast about these rules.

    1. Thanks Stew. Yeah its a bit of a mish mash. He has like a fur/feather cloak with bones attached. He is wearing a sort of bird skull helmet.

  11. Here's hoping that Alfie's troubles are receding, then!

The thing about a shrew wearing a fur cloak is this: where did he get it (or perhaps I should ask: from whom)?! Feels a little barbaric, akin to a human decorating themselves with (human) bones or skulls, if you get what I mean. But then, shrews are vicious little critters, aren't they :-) ?

    1. Thanks Hugh. Yeah it is a bit barbaric which i suppose as a shaman rather than a mage is a bit more fitting.

I'd like to think its a sort of Fox Fur cloak that he has cursed or blasted with a spell of some sort.

  13. What a cracking little sculpt and you've slapped the paint on rather nicely.

Regarding the spell pouch, Not sure black is working. Have you thought of perhaps a red to stand out more? Would also key in nicely with that lovely cloak of his.

    1. Thanks Dai. Yeah it could be. I will ponder on it. I tried to give it a purple hue which doesn't stand out to well in the pics I must admit. Red hmmmm maybe.

  14. All the very best to Alfie on his continued recovery.
As for the shaman, I reckon you've done a top notch job with a great choice of colours - you started out with a high quality of finish with your B&B minis, but STILL seem to be ramping up the standard as you work through them!

As Dotti would say "Rather smart looking group shot, wot."

    1. Thanks very much. It I think its more i am getting more experienced at doing furs etc as I go along. Feathers is the next biggy. I've done the odd one on figures here and there but never really a whole bird or creature.

    Really pleased for you all.

    1. Thanks dude. Yeah we are feeling quite relieved. Steroids have begun to be reduced so the next blood test will be the big one I think as his own body functions begin to normalise.

  16. Happy to hear that Alphie is on the mend. Hopefully he'll be his old self soon.

Another excellent job on the shaman! He looks like he's a nasty mean character.

    1. Thanks Wouter Alfie is indeed doing rather well. On a very low dose of his medication now. Blood tests have all been good.

Thanks I changed his bag to red in the end I will do some more pics when I get some more B&B figures done with him.
