Quick mid week post. Finished off my first figure for Necromunda. I had this figure from the Warlord games stand Last October. The figure is Hansa Nairoba a mercenery character for the Gates of Antares sci fi game. I picked it up just because I really liked the model and its sculpted by Kev White from Hasslefree miniatures.
I just liked the figure and had no real idea what scheme to paint him in and he has sat undercoated on my desk since then. When I started the Necromunda project backup I then realised what good Van Saar he would make so decide to paint him in there typical green scheme. I think he works quite well as an upgraded ganger or perhaps even a leader.
I then had though he would make a good Harlon Nayl from the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett a bounty hunter who work for the inquisitor from time to time. I think I will need a second one now lol
I haven't really done much else on this project I plan to start and tackle it fully in September. I mentioned last post I got some damaged figures from Kieron over at http://cheaphammer.blogspot.co.uk/ I've stripped them back and repaired the damaged bits mainly replacing the knife blades and adding a new hand with silenced pistol (very Delaque I thought)
Gaming wise I played my second game of Batman last night down at Pulp Citizens Slightly bigger crews this time. Black Mask facing off against the Penguin. I took all my crew withs gents agreement over the to elite penguin gang. I lost 32-21 VP with it being quite close until the final round when I lost Penguin and got turfed off 2 out of the 3 objectives I was holding. It was a really good game and I learned a few lessons Dead Shot is erm deadly! I also made one error which was moving to close to a lampost with my shield thug who then got sniped by Mesh with his assault rifle on Round 1 ouch! I should of paced Titan Thug as over two rounds dead shot turned him into a smear across the road lol.
The Crew is due to be expanded again soon with Freeze and two more thugs (Shotgun/Smg) Though I am now thinking of adding Sickle and the Machete/Pistol Thugs. Different combo's are being tossed around with tougher crews and bigger numbered crews being ones to try out.
The Delaques look a lot healthier than they did. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good game. Deadshot always gives me pause; he's scary good.
Yes they do :D Thanks again for sending them over. Yeah he smeared a fair few of my crew last night. I have been reading up on Freeze tonight seems quite a robust character.
DeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir!
DeleteThat's a very nice figure, Simon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan yes its a lovely figure by Kev White. I saw it on the kickstarter at first. Which got cancelled and he got put on general sale so I did a happy dance when I saw him at the Derby show.
DeleteHmmmm ... he looks like Doctor Chaotica, nemesis of Captain Proton. Forgive me but I digress, that's an obscure reference to a Star Trek Voyager holodeck character. He looks good though. I especially like the simple yet effective skin tone.
ReplyDeleteLol yes thanks. Also been mentioned Dr.Mindbender or something like that from G.I.Joe.
DeleteCracking job on the Necromunda chap!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much sir!
DeleteBatman does seem to be the flavour of the month all round. My resolve is being tested but I must remain strong!
ReplyDeleteI agree the figure does look like a a Van Saar Leader, and I do like the delaque juves!
Thanks very much. Its really enjoyable and quite a lot of fun. I'm still getting the hang of it tbh.
DeleteGreat looking character, Simon. If not a leader, definitely a right hand henchman.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean. Its only really his armament (Autogun or Lasgun) which is a bid mediocre for a leader.
DeleteGreat looking mini Simon. It is hard to go wrong with a Kev White sculpt, and you have certainly done this one justice. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the contrasts between bold red and green. :)
And cheers for the game last night -now looking forwrd to the rematch!
Thanks very much mate. It was a great game really enjoyed it. I shall be working on Freeze and the thugs ASAP :)
DeleteHah! That brings back a few memories! Lovely work Simon.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of fond memories. Seeing a lot of them in the flesh does make you realise how good GW figures are.
DeleteGreat work on that figure.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much mate.
DeleteLovely job Simon! Very nicely painted Van Saar henchdude.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate. I quite like that term henchdude. I shall name him Bob the Hench Dude.
DeleteLovely paint job Simon!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much fella.
DeleteThe bald head and shades remind me a bit of the gang members from Heresy Miniatures. They're mostly wearing trench coats, though.
ReplyDeleteIt mostly the clothing and techie add ons like the targeter over his left eye. Really he would probably have more beard and a ponytail but I think seeing as he is bald we'll let him off with just a nice tache. I do like the Heresy Trenchies I shall be picking up a couple to go with my other similarly attired gangs.
DeleteI am pondering turning his troopers into arbites as well.
Nice job mate!
ReplyDeleteCheers Fella :D
DeleteNice job with those greens Simon and I like the red as an accent to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not coming back for a little while yet, I just wanted to pop by and say hello!
Thank you very much Anne! I wanted the retro 40K look. Just with out the green bases.
DeleteWell done, Simon. Like the use of red on his weapon.
ReplyDeleteCheers everything is made from cheap plastic these days :)
DeleteThat's a great paint job
ReplyDeletethe new headbanner is rather vivid, Simon :)
