Westfalia Wasteland Raider no 3

Another Post Apoc raider type finished this week. Another female to join my all female gang. Armed with a shotgun, knife and grenade. Another Westfalia Wasteland kickstarter figure. Very nice I'd like to some more figures of this type from them in future perhaps.

My four female raiders so far. I have another from Mad Puppet WIP as well as a second Furiosa started but from Hasslefree miniatures this time.

I know followers come and go but I seem to have lost quite a few this week. I was wondering if there is something folks would like to see more of?

NSFW: Brother Vinni Anna the Bonecrusher NSFW

Making the decision to attend the Stourbridge Wargames club Across the Dead Earth game featured in my previous post spurred me on to get this scrapper done for my gang to take with them. I love the look of raiders especially the ones of ala Mad Max.

Anna the Bonecrusher is a sculpt by Brother Vinni one I picked up in December as a spur of the moment purchase late one night. The service was spot on as was despatched and arrived really quickly. Its made from resin and comes in three parts with the body left arm and right arm with club. Assembly was simply and clean up was minimal.

Its a cracking sculpt I really like the aggression captured in the sculpts equipment and accessories. I don't usually do fully naked figures so it wa a bit weird at first to paint someone so under dressed but I am really pleased with how she has turned out.

All my raiders so far.

Crooked Dice Action Hero

Finished the Action Hero finally and the last member of the Heroes 1 Pack is done. I hope to get some of the Crooked Dice Soldiers and do them in a similar green at some point so will have this fella to hand to use as an alternative from the Military mind archetype as a Star.

Friday night saw me visit Stourbridge Wargamers club for a mammoth 7 player game of Across the Dead Earth I was joining in part way through. It was a bloody game entering the table from one board edge and then searching the ruins for loot and entrance to an underground tunnel system leading to an unknown location. We all had secret missions mine being to take out enemy leaders and turning them over to the State for a huge reward.

I took a bunch of my raiders which did not to very well at all lol. Even on combats that I initiated they seem to bounce off other peoples gang members hurting them selves lol. I did manage to get my leader down in the underground tunnel but it took bloody 5 turns to get her onto the board.

The next game is planned for 4 weeks time so work schedule permitting I hope to pop down and join in as it was a good laugh with plenty of banter, alliances and double crossing going on.

Scatter terrain Ainsty Castings Stacked Crates

Whilst mulling over what to do next this week I got these quickly painted up for my next game of 7TV and of course crates can be useful in any setting really.

Looking at my terrain a lot of it is neutral or brown or weathered like my rusty industrial set. So decided to go with brighter colours to lift the table a bit more. So went for 3 in camo green and 3 in an orange colour. I shall probably pick up another set or two of these as they are inexpensive for the money really and fill out the table. Also give some cover for those long bridges.

Crooked Dice Lionel Version 2

I'd hoped to have my Action Hero finished for this weekend's posting but I couldn't make up my mind what colour to wash part of him with. So I ended up finishing off a different figure instead. I've paint this mini once before. Its Lionel henchmen and bodyguard to Lancelot Cray the Chairman of United Radionics.

I painted the blister set before but I really like the mini of Lionel and so have 3 copies of him lol.
Theres just something about this pose that I really just like. So this time I went for a blonde fella for the 2nd version. Who knows what I will do with the 3rd copy maybe a head swap will be required.

Found a decent pic of version 1

Crooked Dice Strongarm Co-Star

Been a busy week at work so far Weather has been terrible and by the time i've been getting in its either to dark or piddling down with rain so has taken me longer to get some decent pics.

Got the Strongarm from the Heroic Archetypes I pack finished this week I almost have got the whole pack done just got the Action Hero left to complete (hopefully tonight!). I finished the Tomorrow Person and Crackpot Inventor last year. But then got distracted as I always do lol.

This is another cracking sculpt by Ernst Veingart who is doing most of the Crooked Dice models lately. Which is a good thing as they are all really nice sculpts.

The Strongarm says it all in the name really he maybe a hulking giant, a street fighter, a martial arts expert or perhaps a burly copper his main abilities is bashing peoples heads in with his mighty blow and beat back his star abilities handy in a large brawl.

7TV Second Edition

Ha best laid plans and all that. I had hope to have a finished painted figure for Sunday's post however I had a package arrive Saturday afternoon which I ended up unboxing and having a look through on my Saturday evening planned painting session. Oops!

I have looking forward to this since the guys at Crooked Dice announced the pre order back in October I'd hope to receive it prior to Christmas (Well earlier than planned) but it has still arrived for early January which was the scheduled date.

Unboxing the game.
Its a has very nice printed box. The box covers are fab showcasing many wonderful pictures of there miniatures all around the outside of the inner box as well. The box itself seems very sturdy and arrived in perfect order. The contents were well packaged and came all neatly sealed up.

The Box contains a set of dice, Status counters and objective markers and a small Maguffin to be used in director's cut versions of the standard missions (it adds extra tasks etc) A set of 20 Plot Tokens (red glass beads) Countdown deck (event cards that are played each turn) Gadget card deck. Two rulebooks and a multipurpose template (3 inch/5inch blast and flame thrower)

 Tokens and dice.

Plot Tokens.

Countdown deck and Gadget Deck.
Profile cards (Villainous, Heroic, Neutral, Vehicle and Unit) these have a really nice thickness to them as well. Much better than my home printed ones I used during play testing.

Multipurpose Template I think this is a really cool idea. Obviously its translucent I just haven't peeled the backing off yet :)

The Two rulebooks book one containing the core rules and book two the cast lists and how to build your casts. These are both lovely quality paper and chock with awesome pics.

I am really pleased I picked this game up .It has got to be one the best games i've picked up since starting back up in the hobby and it has got to be the best quality boxed game that i've seen in years. Well worth the money it even comes with a voucher to pick up the 7TV Set designer for £2! Only thing I'd say is if your planning quite large games of 7TV2e then a second set of Counters and Plot tokens is a must and I'm glad I picked some up extra when ordering.

The rest of the weekend
I spent the rest of the Saturday evening sleeving my profile cards ready to start gaming with and flicking through the full colour rulebooks.

The profile cards fit in standard gaming sleeves I think 65mm by 90mm. I need to pickup some more on today so I'll edit this post later tonight when I know the proper size.

Sunday night I managed to get my first figure of 2016 finished just need to get some pics when the light is better. I also managed to get the second and third figures to the point where they are nearly done as well.
The Sleeved profile cards allowing you to mark wounds with a pen extra if you wished but also to protect the cards a bit more from wear and tear.
Heroic, Villainous and the Neutral cards being sorted :)

First game of 2016

Quite pleased with myself this week. Managed to get my first game in of 2016 on the 3rd January!!
Have been promising a game with my daughter Carmen again since our zombie game played in 2015. Carmen wanted to play a game that was a bit more difficult so decided to try her with Across the Dead Earth.

I kept it pretty simple basic mechanics only, a couple of skills and pretty similar armed gangs so they were fair and even. I left out event cards but will add these in next time.

I took a few pics throughout so here is a small game report of sorts. We both enjoyed the game immensely and Carmen is keen for another game so big Win in my book.

Gangs were as follows.

The Kittys
L-R Angel, Amy, Carmen, Dollie and Daisy.
Carmen, Leader skill armed with Pistol and Knife.
Daisy, Medic skill armed with Shotgun and Knife.
Angel armed with Bow and Knife.
Dollie armed with Rifle and Knife.
Amy armed with Large Axe, Pistol and Knife.

Wez's Raiders

L-R Wez, Mad Dog, Stalks, Fatboy and Furiosa

Wez, Leader skill armed with Crosspistol and Knife.
Fatboy, Medic skill armed with Crossbow and Knife.
Stalks armed with Bow and Knife.
Mad Dog armed with Large Axe and Knife.
Furiosa with Rifle and Knife.

The Game.
Scenario was a loot game more so there was something to aim for rather than just maiming each other. We rolled 2d6 for Loot counters which resulted in 6 these were randomly scattered around the board.

Part of the ruins of the rag market. The gangs setup in opposite Corners Carmen top left mine the bottom right.

We counted the Sofa on Carmen's corner as her basecamp to drop off loot to and the statue in mine was my safe point (Loot dropped here is banked and removed from play)

I'm not sure how many turns we played somewhere around the 8-10 mark as it plays quick.

Loot Counters were spread out across the table mostly high up with the exception of the one on top of the car.

 Opening Turns.
Both gang advance intent on bagging loot, Carmen climbs the water tower snagging the first loot counter of the game and swiftly legs it returning it to base camp. Stalks claims the Raiders first by claiming the loot on the corner ruin in the top right corner.

Wez climbs to the top of the central ruin snagging that counter whilst Angel the Archer claims the loot from the truck tower. A Few shots mainly between the rifle armed gang members results in Dollie being knocked down but healed by the Kittys medic Daisy. Amy is brought down in by Fatboy's crossbow but is in turn gunned down by the rest of the Kittys before he can finished her off.

Mad Dog grabs the loot in the ruins and climbs back down and Furiosa take there final counter from out of the wrecked car.

A Group of bounty hunters turn up led by the infamous Bunny Bandit obviously after the bounty on one of the Raiders they swiftly join up with the Kittys. They advance upon the raiders and begin to pouring gunfire into the gang.

The bounty hunters advance and there leader guns down Stalks and removes him from play thankfully after he dropped of his loot.

The Raiders begin to retreat into cover as the Kittys rake them with gunfire.

Having taken out Stalks who must of been the target of the bounty hunters they withdraw and disappear silently into the ruins.

Mad Dog takes Furiosa's loot counter and makes a run for base camp.
Daisy guns down the raiders leader with a close range blast from her shotgun and he drops the loot he is carrying.
Daisy quickly gets Amy on her feet who retreats to basecamp with the Wez's loot. Daisy then draws her knife and despatches the raiders leader.
Furiosa is struck down by Angel's bow, Whilst Mad Dog returns to the fray and managed to knock down Carmen with his large axe. Fat Boy and Mad Dog are then gun down in a hail of arrows, bullets and scatter shot ending the game.

It wa a REALLY fun game and Carmen picked up the mechanics easily. Plans are a foot for another game there will be more equipment in that one as I am going to let Carmen pick her gang with figures from my collection and arm them as they appear.

Adding up the loot counters we picked up 3 each and with injury's Victory conditions where a bit odd I could of won as I had 5, 25 and 30pt loot counters with the score being 60pts to 55pts but as Carmen pretty much wiped out my gang I'd say it was more of a victory to the Kitty's as really the Raider's loot I suppose would of been claimed by them.

I've still not done much painting but last night I have based the final few figures I had lingering. I am off to have breakfast with my lovely wife as today we celebrate being together for 20 years! I also have a hospital appointment for some tests this afternoon so will be interesting to see what gets said about my seizure or whatever I had before Christmas.

I am hoping to get some painting done tonight so we will see what shows up for Sunday!

I also have this conversion on the go. I plan to add a chain with a spiked ball on the end but know I've come to it I'm not sure which size chain to use. I like the look of the smaller one but am unsure the best way to attach it to the hand. The larger chain would be easier I suppose but I'd do hand gripping just one link and have 3-4 hanging off of it. What are peoples thoughts?
