Ha best laid plans and all that. I had hope to have a finished painted figure for Sunday's post however I had a package arrive Saturday afternoon which I ended up unboxing and having a look through on my Saturday evening planned painting session. Oops!
I have looking forward to this since the guys at Crooked Dice announced the pre order back in October I'd hope to receive it prior to Christmas (Well earlier than planned) but it has still arrived for early January which was the scheduled date.
Unboxing the game.
Its a has very nice printed box. The box covers are fab showcasing many wonderful pictures of there miniatures all around the outside of the inner box as well. The box itself seems very sturdy and arrived in perfect order. The contents were well packaged and came all neatly sealed up.
The Box contains a set of dice, Status counters and objective markers and a small Maguffin to be used in director's cut versions of the standard missions (it adds extra tasks etc) A set of 20 Plot Tokens (red glass beads) Countdown deck (event cards that are played each turn) Gadget card deck. Two rulebooks and a multipurpose template (3 inch/5inch blast and flame thrower)
Tokens and dice.
Plot Tokens.
Profile cards (Villainous, Heroic, Neutral, Vehicle and Unit) these have a really nice thickness to them as well. Much better than my home printed ones I used during play testing.
Multipurpose Template I think this is a really cool idea. Obviously its translucent I just haven't peeled the backing off yet :)
The Two rulebooks book one containing the core rules and book two the cast lists and how to build your casts. These are both lovely quality paper and chock with awesome pics.
I am really pleased I picked this game up .It has got to be one the best games i've picked up since starting back up in the hobby and it has got to be the best quality boxed game that i've seen in years. Well worth the money it even comes with a voucher to pick up the 7TV Set designer for £2! Only thing I'd say is if your planning quite large games of 7TV2e then a second set of Counters and Plot tokens is a must and I'm glad I picked some up extra when ordering.
The rest of the weekend
I spent the rest of the Saturday evening sleeving my profile cards ready to start gaming with and flicking through the full colour rulebooks.
The profile cards fit in standard gaming sleeves I think 65mm by 90mm. I need to pickup some more on today so I'll edit this post later tonight when I know the proper size.
Sunday night I managed to get my first figure of 2016 finished just need to get some pics when the light is better. I also managed to get the second and third figures to the point where they are nearly done as well.

The Sleeved profile cards allowing you to mark wounds with a pen extra if you wished but also to protect the cards a bit more from wear and tear.
Heroic, Villainous and the Neutral cards being sorted :)
Great stuff! Gotta love the postman!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed I practically leapt down the stairs to answer the door

ReplyDeleteSo, how soon will we hear about your first game played?
Hopefully the by the end of the month. As soon as I can sort out a night with Pulp Citizen.
DeleteSo this is finally out then. This is going to be huge. Doesn't it come with a couple of new figures? I thought I'd seen Simon st Stone Cold Lead paint two up.
ReplyDeleteYeah its finally here woohoo!. It doesn't contain any figures apart from the Maguffin. But there were starter sets you could get as part of the pre order. But apart from the odd figure here and there I have most of them already.
DeleteLovely box of figure goodness Simon!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! I shall have to route all my painted figures for it the weekend and create some casts.
DeleteI've managed to resist this so far...mainly because there are so many other upcoming games I need to save my pennies for...but you're not making it easy!
ReplyDeleteThis was a must buy for me and I rapidly sold some spare figs to get the cash together for it! Its such a useful game engine and I hope there expansions like they did for first edition for it.
DeleteI'm sure they will...maybe even their Blakes 7 rules which they've been working on forever. I'd have to pick it up then! Not my favourite, 7th Voyage, though...I seem to remember them saying they won't be converting that to 2nd Ed. All good...the first ed rules are pretty damn good anyway!
DeleteI'm sure now they have got this out there they will start bring some of the supplements upto date for there mini range.
DeletePretty nice, I feel myself tempted!
ReplyDeleteIts a great game I recommend it highly!
DeleteThat looks very nicely done. Looking forward to reading write-ups of your games.
ReplyDeleteI hope to do one soon!
DeleteWow,this looks like a lot more than just the rulebook! Looking forward to some Bond games now!
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope there will be many but be prepared for ninja's as well as weird science!
DeleteThis all looks very impressive. I shall await an AAR with VERY keen interest. I will be particularly interested in how the rules have changed or indeed stayed the same. Thanks for showing this mate.
