I've been re-watching season 1 (now watched all six episodes) and I'm just about to start season 2.
Anyhow some new survivor figures have been released by Studio miniatures and being in the mood decided to try this company out for the first time and ordered me the 'Dixon' Survivor.
Service was excellent arrived pretty quickly came well packed in a blister the really cool card insert 'Z-Clipz' has been pinched and being used as a bookmark.
The Dixon figure is obviously themed on Daryl for The Walking Dead series and is an excellent represntation of him it has his iconic weapon i.e the crossbow, the knife strapped to his hip, Satchel, squirrel pelts even the ear necklace is present though its hard to see.
The miniature comes in two pieces the body and the main shaft/bow of the crossbow is seperate which is great as it lets you get into the hard to reach places to paint. Very minimal flash and he came with a 30mm lipped base.
I am going to get a second figure as where the crossbow separates I want to splice in a shotgun for a bit more 'noisier' fire power and it will be a doddle to do. Hell I may get a third and give him an smg or assault rifle but we will see.
I REALLY enjoyed painting this figure it practically painted itself. I am certainly going to be picking up some more survivors and perhaps a zombie mob or two.
Big Thumbs up Studio Miniatures!
Painted him last night in one sitting having undercoated and puttied the base on Thursday evening. Mixture of pictures it was so nice and sunny I took some in the garden.
You can just about see the Ear Necklace |
Thought i'd have a play and do some scenic ones :D
Great fogure and a great paintjob there. Walking Dead back on the 14th October is that in the US or UK?
ReplyDeleteUS most likely it will probably hit the web the day after (wink wink nudge nudge)
DeleteI've already got my finger on the download button!
DeleteWell done indeed mate! I really like studi miniatures as well. And I can not wait to get hold of their plastic zombies now!
ReplyDeleteDarryll is kickass!!! Though I never figured out... He has a silenced weapon, can move without a sound....Yet have a noisy motorcycle!!
Cheers dude there is that but then he's moving away from any zeds not hunting them so.
DeleteI've wanted a modern survivor with a crossbow for a while, so I was delighted when Studio released this figure! To me, the model seems like a younger man than Daryl, though it's obviously based on him. Doesn't really matter; I'll be getting this one soon, I think...
ReplyDeleteYes there is that I suppose it depends on how you paint him up. I don't think Daryl is that old to be honest. Perhaps I should add some stubble or somthing.
DeleteNice one Simon. Curse you, that's more money I need to spend now!!!
ReplyDeleteHa you know you want to. I will get some more soon for definate most likely Michelle nad the not 'Grimes' family
DeleteSo, you're now another convert to Studio Minis, Simon? They really do rock with their survivors and zombies ranges. Top notch paint job, by the way.
ReplyDeleteIndeed I am and thanks Bryan.
DeleteNice model and a great paintjob, though I can`t fathom the fuss about zombie tv serials... now back to my cartoony robots hehehe
ReplyDeleteCheers mate, Could do Cartoony robots vs Zombies
DeleteCracking job on the not Daryl miniature mate. Im another who cannot wait for The Walking Dead to start again.

ReplyDeleteMe too season 2 started a little slow but was great in the end.
DeleteYou've done a fecking good job on Daryl Brummie, not so in love with the last series but I'll have to watch it with Ray!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran, It was rough in patches what didn't help was the mid season break.
DeleteGreat job Sir, another cracking looking miniature.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael
DeleteHe has loads of character and that little rip in the jeans just makes it. I've been doing my painting outside for the last couple of days to make the most of the last of the good weather.
ReplyDeleteNice painting Brummie and looking forward to seeing the conversion!

ReplyDeleteI'll be getting Dixon as one of my bonus minis provided by Studio Miniatures indiegogo project.
Cheers Adam is it 3 you get to choose? Which ones you going to get?
DeleteBrummie- that is well cool- I wasn't aware of this figure, and I always like it when I see something new, but your paint job is the dogs whatnots! Perhaps your best to date!
ReplyDeleteCheers mate. I didn't know it was out either and as soon as I saw it had to have it. I'm really impressed with the quality of the mini it was great to paint.
