Empire of the Dead Brotherhood Part 2 Complete

Finished off the last four members of the Brotherhood boxed set on Monday night whilst watching the final hours of the kickstarter some fantastic concept artwork has been shown especially for the Nemo themed group.  I'm really chuffed for Andy and Wendy they have ran a fantastic kickstarter and I'm so glad it reached all of its goals. There is going to be some very impressive miniatures coming out later in the year. I can't wait for June to get my backer stuff !!

In the meantime it gives me chance to catch up on the figures I already have. Next up will be the vampires a few more criminal types i've made a Dredger type character for the first Sherlock Holmes movie he's not quite as scruffy looking but he's big! I need to get hold of the zombies set and a few more of the Gents and Jackanape characters to complete the EotD collection so far.

There was a lot more work to do on these brother's namely the red clothing, torch's and armour. Not set on the torch's yet they look ok. However I feel they need something but I can't put my finger on what they need so any suggestions please make them!

First up the leader of the faction 'The Deacon' lovely pose on this miniature and he looks battle hardened with the scar down his face also carrying a holy relic to smite those of evil inclinations. I painted the cloak separately and attached it afterwards quite like how this guy turned out lots of nice little details like the cross on the sword hilt  and breastplate.

Another character for the faction 'The Confessor' another nice sculpt with lots of little details the eye patch suggest another character who is battle hardened. Slightly less ornate but still has the sheathed sword, mace and torch for burning the unholy!

The last two Brothers are both armed with crossbow. The brother with the torch and eye patch is my favourite of the crossbow armed ones.

A shot of the four additions.

Shot of the entire group so far.

The Knight Marshall

There is a third character for the faction 'The Knight Marshall' which sounds very Paladin like. There isn't a specific figure been done yet. So its quite open to interpretation. I've got into thinking of perhaps a fantasy monk type character but I'm still undecided at the minute.

From the rulebook the description is as follows.

The Knight Marshall is the warrior of the Faction. He is God's retribution on the unholy, a holy spirit manifested in physical form. He prefers to fight the enemies of God face-to-face.

So Paladin type? monk with mystical powers? what do you good folks think. I'm looking for ideas.

  2. Great stuff Simon, they really look great together!
I to do the red/orange with yellow when doin torches but I've found if I dry brush a little white on the extreme highlights it really makes them look a bit more realistic. As for the Knight Marshall, plenty of d&d stuff out there may fit. Maybe even a WHF warrior priest style model could work.

    1. Cheers DVD, might give that a go before varnishing. Jury's still out at the minute can't decide. Another idea was a Van Helsing type character.

    2. Awesome idea, like a witch hunter general or Solomon Kane type? I got a couple of witch hunters from westwinds Lucifer wars range and they are ok, but I'd suggest a look at reapers stuff. I'm sure I've seen some good ones in both their fantasy and modern ranges that could fit the bill.

  9. Nice job Simon.

As for the torches, I tend to do the colours in the reverse to what you have, start from red/orange and work up to yellow on the edges.
Although technically wrong if you look at pictures of flames, it just ones of those odd things that seems to look better that way!

  18. They're looking pretty nifty so they are. Liking the paintjobs on these. Might need to finish my Lycoan gang at somepoint.

For a Knight Marshall figure, part of me always pictured it more as a divine being. Something that manifested itself, to go around kicking arse in the name of the lord.

I always though of either something like this.

    Or

Though it might make them huge on the actual table though.

  19. I like your brothers. Might I suggest a cross painted onto the eye patches? My opponent is using a Reaper armored cleric figure for his Knight Marshal. The Knight Marshall is a heavy hitting character.
