In the meantime it gives me chance to catch up on the figures I already have. Next up will be the vampires a few more criminal types i've made a Dredger type character for the first Sherlock Holmes movie he's not quite as scruffy looking but he's big! I need to get hold of the zombies set and a few more of the Gents and Jackanape characters to complete the EotD collection so far.
There was a lot more work to do on these brother's namely the red clothing, torch's and armour. Not set on the torch's yet they look ok. However I feel they need something but I can't put my finger on what they need so any suggestions please make them!
First up the leader of the faction 'The Deacon' lovely pose on this miniature and he looks battle hardened with the scar down his face also carrying a holy relic to smite those of evil inclinations. I painted the cloak separately and attached it afterwards quite like how this guy turned out lots of nice little details like the cross on the sword hilt and breastplate.
Another character for the faction 'The Confessor' another nice sculpt with lots of little details the eye patch suggest another character who is battle hardened. Slightly less ornate but still has the sheathed sword, mace and torch for burning the unholy!
The last two Brothers are both armed with crossbow. The brother with the torch and eye patch is my favourite of the crossbow armed ones.
A shot of the four additions. |
Shot of the entire group so far. |
The Knight Marshall
From the rulebook the description is as follows.
The Knight Marshall is the warrior of the Faction. He is God's retribution on the unholy, a holy spirit manifested in physical form. He prefers to fight the enemies of God face-to-face.
So Paladin type? monk with mystical powers? what do you good folks think. I'm looking for ideas.
Nice work on these. They look great together. Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean.
DeleteGreat stuff Simon, they really look great together!
ReplyDeleteI to do the red/orange with yellow when doin torches but I've found if I dry brush a little white on the extreme highlights it really makes them look a bit more realistic. As for the Knight Marshall, plenty of d&d stuff out there may fit. Maybe even a WHF warrior priest style model could work.
Cheers DVD, might give that a go before varnishing. Jury's still out at the minute can't decide. Another idea was a Van Helsing type character.
DeleteAwesome idea, like a witch hunter general or Solomon Kane type? I got a couple of witch hunters from westwinds Lucifer wars range and they are ok, but I'd suggest a look at reapers stuff. I'm sure I've seen some good ones in both their fantasy and modern ranges that could fit the bill.
DeleteIts an idea at the minute as its a hero I want a cool mini to represent it. Looking at Various priests, paladins and clerics at the moment.
DeleteYou've hit the mark with these Simon, very nice. Good minis too! Look like they were a pleasure to paint.
ReplyDeleteCheers Gunrunner, they where a pleasure,
DeleteWell done Simon. I like these figures and almost bought The Deacon a few days ago, but changed my mind as I'm already all over the place with the stuff I buy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne. Sell everything else and get these instead you won't regret it :P
DeleteYou have a very very nice looking Faction there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Clint, Hoping to write up a list tonight to blood them next week.
DeleteGreat figures and really nice paint as always Simon , i like the red on this models
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you Vincent glad you like it.
DeleteThey all look very cool, love the red it really pops! Works really well with the tone of the cloaks.
ReplyDeleteThank youm they didn't look right all in brown.
DeleteThese look great Brummie, some great colour combos there, the group looks really intimidating, but I guess that's how you wanted them to look.
ReplyDeleteThanks Zabadak, indeed that was the intention watch out vampires and all evil doers.
DeleteNice job Simon.
ReplyDeleteAs for the torches, I tend to do the colours in the reverse to what you have, start from red/orange and work up to yellow on the edges.
Although technically wrong if you look at pictures of flames, it just ones of those odd things that seems to look better that way!
Cheers Scott thats what I read as well about flames being the opposite to what everybody thinks I may drybrush as DVD suggests above.
DeleteThose came out very nice! Good sculpts too, they have a lot more flair than typical robed cultist minis.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dude they are very nice.
DeleteThey are quite excellent, many, many uses as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran, yes indeed.
DeleteVery impresive indeed, flames are always hard to get right.
ReplyDeleteThanks buddy, I tried doing them different to what I've done before. might wash the recesses as well might sharpen it up a bit.
DeleteCracking looking bunch of antagonistic Theoligans mate.
ReplyDeleteThank you very kindly sir.
DeleteThey are all ready to kick ass in God's name! Nicely done, Simon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan, Wrote up the list for these guys last night.
DeleteThey look great together. Nice photography too.
ReplyDeleteCheers Adam.
DeleteThey look fantastic, i love the co;our schm you used
ReplyDeleteCheers Buddy.
DeleteThanks Nathan, Probably next week sometime still learning the rules, have learnt the basics going to start adding in the supernatural bits like the Priest spells with these figures and If I can get them done the Vampires though I have enough figures todo a Darkfire Club.
ReplyDeleteThey're looking pretty nifty so they are. Liking the paintjobs on these. Might need to finish my Lycoan gang at somepoint.
ReplyDeleteFor a Knight Marshall figure, part of me always pictured it more as a divine being. Something that manifested itself, to go around kicking arse in the name of the lord.
I always though of either something like this.

Or
http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Crusaders/latest/14080
Though it might make them huge on the actual table though.
Thanks Mecha, Some good Ideas there.
DeleteI like your brothers. Might I suggest a cross painted onto the eye patches? My opponent is using a Reaper armored cleric figure for his Knight Marshal. The Knight Marshall is a heavy hitting character.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Thats a nice Idea, may do that for the Deacon. Trying to find mini's that fits the existing figures at the minute.
DeleteGreat stuff there Simon and I light the robes and the flame effects. That cloak is truly amazing and I feel that I might be getting into this game best on what I seen here on your blog
ReplyDeleteThanks mate, it really is a good system I can't wait to get hold of the rules for the new factions.
DeleteGreat stuff as ever Mr. Q, very nicely done. The band as a whole look excellent, and as I mentioned before I think the brown habits are a great touch.
ReplyDeleteI really do hope we get to try some EotD at some point. :)
Thanks buddy, definitely will get some EotD gaming in perhaps some sort of mini campaign.
Deletemethinks the first one is absolutely needed in Vatican :PP
ReplyDeleteIndeed he would probably do a better job :D
Deleteyep, they need some spring cleaning (Exorcising) over there :)
