Not been getting a lot finished off to show lately work is being done on my Brotherhood for Empire of the Dead as well as some generic reinforcements for the factions. Using some Foundry Armed N'ver Do wells I plan to use them to add numbers to any of the various factions. These are all nearly basecaoted and shading needs to be started once I've tidied up a few bits.
I've started to clean and prepare the Vampire boxed set a couple of cheap metal wolves though 25mm they are little bit smaller than the current ones i have but they are nice figures and only cost me a few quid of ebay. The next Jackanape has been built (choice of hat added) and the base done on the Circ Du Noir Man Ape.
Beside that I've done a fair bit of reading and watching TV series
Ripper Street has really caught my interest. At first I thought it was going to be all about the Ripper Murder's which was not really my cup of tea but after reading about it on the Lead Adventure forum I though i'd give the first episode a watch and was hooked instantly. Its really good it touches on a lot of different topics, child gangs and the Fagins that run them, Disgruntled retired soldiers, Anarchists, Engineering discovery's. A little bit about the ripper murders new advances in technology (at the time of course). Only eight episodes I soon burned through them on I Player and am looking forward to a second series (rumours of the set being booked for a few months Clancy Barracks in Dublin).
The main characters all have interesting backgrounds Sergeant Drake (played by Jerome Flynn) has to be my favourite character of the main trio.

IMDB Ripper Street
Books wise I've been going through some classic tale, Bram Stokers Dracula, A Princess of Mars and the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes all books I really can't believe I've not read them earlier they are marvellous go read them. The other bonus of these classic books they are free if you have a kindle or use Amazon's reader.
The Requiem Kickstarter is doing really good and is steadily climbing and is nearly at the 60'000 mark huzzah. The next stretch goal is Deathlock Bones and the Bad Doctor. Which is looking to be hit tomorrow fingers crossed!
Ripper Street, probably the best thing on TV over the last couple of years, Walking Dead excluded of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, will check it!
ReplyDeleteRay, you should check Boardwalk empire, I loved it! :D
I wanted to watch that one, but haven't got the channel its on, I'll have to wait for the DVD.
DeleteI've heard great things about Ripper and I'll see it when I can get it in my area.
ReplyDeleteThat Kickstarter is doing great. My bank won't do foreign transactions or I'd be in on that in a heartbeat.
I must check out Ripper Street, haven't seen it yet!
ReplyDeleteI really liked "Ripper Street" excellent TV programme. As Ray says ONE of the best things on Telly so far this year.
ReplyDeleteAs for EotD, Kickstarter. I'll see how it runs and maybe jump in on the end.
Ripper street is quality viewing.
ReplyDeleteI have to try and watch ripper street, it sounds great, i love this kind of show
ReplyDeleteI found Ripper Street to be highly entertaining, despite having little interest in that period of history. I, too, am glad that a second series has been commissioned.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed Ripper Street and look forward to the Hell Division PDF and miniatures for EOTD.
ReplyDeleteIt has been pretty slow over here too! *too much work, mutter, mutter* Great to hear progress is being made though and as for Ripper Street - loved it!
ReplyDeleteYep, Ripper Street is a good series and highly inspirational for the period I guess.
ReplyDeleteThat hadn't made it onto my radar over in the colonies, I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI loved Ripper Street is was really damn good and was full of flavour of the period
ReplyDeleteHave to say I haven't been watching the series, but really now it seems like I should be.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Ripper Street. When my wife and I started watching it, we were afraid it would just be a (dare I say) "Rip-off" of Copper. Instead, we enjoy that show more than Copper now. It doesn't hurt that our interest in the era is closer to the 1890s London (Ripper) instead of the 1860's New York (Copper).

MOAR Kickstarters? Ugh.. though to be honest.. this one looks interesting ( though when arn't they these days? ). Never head of Ripper Street though.. will have to check it out and see if I can find it over here in Turkey. Sounds promising!
ReplyDeleteI love Ripper Street as well. I agree that the Sergent is the most interesting character.
ReplyDeleteI just finished watching the season, one thing i noticed is it was made in Dublin, seems a bit strange that it was not shot in London
ReplyDeleteI thought that to. I imagine its perhaps because of the Location/cost of filming etc.
