Poundland Soviet 60/70s Cars.

Popped into Poundland the other day and spotted these cracking diecast cars. They say DeAgostini so I imagine these are from those collection magazines. Great find they appear to be from the 60/70s so I picked up a few for 7TV dodgy props ad what not. Theres quite a range a couple of my 7TV friends have picked up some great vehicles alas not in any of the stores near me.

First up a delivery Van

An Ambulance had to get this one it reminds me of the one in The Ipcress File

Taxi I think.
These where Fire utility type trucks I removed the ladders from the top of the Tarp to use as troop transports. However I the tarp came off the second one upon removal. Can't decide now whether to glue it back on or keep it open topped?

Better shot of the interior to cover? or not to cover? that is the question?

  1. Nice find, and would keep the tarp off the one there. I think it would add a different dimension to the car!

Are you going to repaint them though? Or leave them as is?

    1. Not sure yet. I though about repainting them an Olive green colour without markings

  2. I might have to go for a 5 mile round trip walk to see if my local pound land has these.... (99p store is a lot closer but they don't!)

I would keep the tarp off as it gives a different vehicle look. But for the price maybe buy another 1 or 2 and re paint them as well.

What ever you do will be the right choice. As at the price you just can't get it wrong!

    1. They are quite hard to get hold of and the shops stocks seems to be really random. There are 5 stores nearby me and only 2 had any.

  3. Open topped looks good but they'll all have to be like that or the open topped one could be the command vehicle with a radio antenna. Damn nice though.

  4. I rode on one of those UAZs in the woods. Was not pleasant. Us eastern block guys knew these too well, haha. Very nice find nonetheless.

    1. They look great and mix well with the 28mm figs quite well. I can imagine they aren't equipped for comfort

  5. I spotted some of these in my local poundland last week (very varied from your lot above) and I also spotted the identical models in another shop for £4.99!

I still haven't bought any yet as all the ones I saw had Russian lettering on the sides, but those UAZ's look really good. - I'd suggest if you're not intending them to be vcrewed then leave the hard tops on.

    1. They do have Russian markings on some. They seem to be varied depending on store.

I think the rear seats seem to plain so the tarp will most likely stay on.

    1. They surprised me they had some ladders on the roof which where easily removed and then they look quite suitable for all sorts now

  8. It never ceases to amaze me how people can find these things, in various scales, in these shops, and yet I always draw a blank! Still, good find Simon, and I'm in the tarp 'off' camp!

    1. Mate I sympathize I usually fall in the same boat as you. I was literally popping to the bank to pay a bill for the SWMBO and though I'd pop in! Nearly didn't bother so glad I did

  9. Ah, I'm still a jelly! :D

That ambulance just screams Eastern Germany, lol.
Is that "taxi" one a trabant? I've always loved those, my dad used to drive a caravan version lol.

For the tarp, I say keep it off, paint benches and it should be fine. I wouldn't even repaint them, red seems to work well with the minies they're intended to go with.

  10. Wow that's a great find. They van & taxi are so authentic. For the jeeps I'm say keep one with the tarp on and the other with out a tarp.

  12. These have great style and are clearly of the period. I don't see why you can't have one with the tarp on and one with it off, but I'm not a gamer so what do I know. I do think you should paint them the olive drab though.

  20. Very cool stuff perfect for your games, my friend works at Deals(pound wise in the UK) he said they sold a huge bin full, over 500 models in it, in only a few hours, not much chance of more coming into stock i think

  21. I went to Poundland in Solihull today. No luck.
    Damn it.

I love what you have done with tehm. I like the white van best. No you need to make some 'Red Square' terrain for your spies to run around.
