Torgar Oakarm Dwarf Thief

Torgar Oakarm is a skilled thief and member of the 'Fist's of Iron' adventuring company. Torgar excels in the finding and disarming of traps. Handy with a lock pick as well as being stealthy (for a Dwarf anyway) when the need arises. Torgar has his trusty short sword but also use's a ten foot pole to search out traps he is always in the frontline when the 'Fist's of Iron' are chartered for an expedition. Checking the way is clear for himself and his fellow adventurer's.

The fifth member of the party arrives a Dwarf thief. This has been a learning curve with this chap as he comes in three pieces body, pole and left arm and backpack. I ended up painting it all separately then glueing him together afterwards as his face is covered by the pole. At one point I nearly had kittens as I was touching up the bits that's got scuffed fitting the pole and the arm came out the socket and put glue on part of his cloak. Luckily it was just a small smudge and once dry it covered back over with the original colours OK and you can't see it now.

  1. Very nice work mate. I hate assembling minis from sub-assemblies, so kudos for going that route!

  3. You should hear the cursing that goes on at my place when it's time to put arms and such on. I almost always ruin something and it takes more than one go.

You've done a fine job with him Simon and this group is looking fantastic.

  4. A dwarf thief what ever next a Halfling Tank! It's just wrong!

Not the assembly or painting but the whole notion of Dwarfs being sneaky! Dwarves do loud, aggressive and drunk so well that they have cornered the roleplaying market place as obnoxious anti social psychopaths. (what a nice change from the cliché!) I mean the who idea is an abomination.

(sssh don't tell anyone I like the idea really! very characterful Your usual high level of paintmanship and a joy to behold. )

    1. That's Funny are you looking at my painting table Clint?

Thanks very much. I suppose they do have that sterotype they do have affinity for traps and lock picks I guess its the craftsmen side of a Dwarf's nature.

  8. Great job mate, but it looks like I've been spoiled by other otherworld sculpts, as this one really isn't their best. It makes sense and all, but, for example, that first dwarf and gnome...fantastic miniatures! :D

  9. Great stuff Simon - haven't commented for a while due to work stuff and all, and I have had a look back at what you have been doing. Great clean colours again - you have a knack of choosing good colour schemes that make the models come to life, without them being too much if you know what I mean. I bet you're getting ready for the new EOTD fellows to arrive.

    1. Thanks Robert, It was getting the pole through the hand which was the hardest part it doesn't look it but its gnarled like wood rather than being straight and smooth. You have to kind of rotate it through.

  17. Another great addition to your band, even if he is a dwarf (and a thief to boot). I really like the subdued colours you've used and kudos that you can't tell it was an assembled mini.
