EotD Kickstarter Part 4: Set 7 221b Baker Street and Set 8 Nemesis Criminals

Felt better towards the end of this week but the first half of it was crap as the cold disappeared but the cough ramped itself upto to one of those irritating feckers that starts off as soon as your head hits the pillow.

First up is is Set 7 221b Baker Street and this comprises of yep you've guessed it Sherlock Holmes and friends! This set comprises of (top row) Sherlock smoking a pipe and a choice of empty hand or his violin. The Good Doctor with revolver (this has to be my favourite version of Doctor Watson) Mycroft (Sherlocks Brother) Sir Henry Baskerville and Mrs Hudson. (Bottom Row) its a nice characterful set. I've received the PDF last week as well but still need to have good read and digest what's in there as its quite packed with new stuff. Though some characters still seem to be missing from the rules from the quick glance I've had.

Set 8 Nemesis Criminals continues the Sherlock Holmes theme with various characters from the novels. Top row we have Irene Adler I love this miniature in her left hand she carries a set of brass knuckles whilst in her right her pistol is a multi barrel pepper pot type. Next up is the master criminal himself Moriarty its a nice sculpt I'm not so sure about the angle he's wearing the hat at though but that's just my opinion. Last in the top row is Colonel Moran again with another lovely rifle. Bottom row has some of the lesser known characters from left to right we have John Clay (The Red Headed League), Doctor Roylott (The Adventure of the Speckled Band) Jack Stapleton and Selden (Both from the The Hound of the Baskervilles). Again I need to have a read through the rules as various characters from this are split through some of the new factions. I think these two sets can lead up to some fun one off scenario's based around the tales told in the novels.

Close up of Miss Adler's excellent pistol

Other prep has begun and I've based all my Police miniatures total of 20 bases done. So thats a fifth of the Requiem KS based. I'm undecided on undercoat at the moment I have some white spray that I may use but haven't made my mind up about it yet.

  1. A very nice selection. Very Characterful although I would have preferred Mycroft to more portly as he tends not to move about too much from my reading of the novels. Just my view and a very minor thing!

All good stuff though and when Painted will look Fab!

    1. I haven't come across Mycroft in the novels yet. I'm reading my way through the complete works of Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft hasn't been mentioned so far my only knowledge of him is from the Downey/Law Films

Mycroft is slightly bigger but Sherlocks open pose combined with his coat makes him look similar in size

  2. I've seen the 221 B baker St set its lovely and that is my favorite Watson as well. The rules have turned the Hound into a good minion of Sherlock who uses as sort of make up to make the hound glow which is really cool, but sadly I didn't pick up the hound.

    1. The hound is really quite nice. If I decide not to get the Gothic Horror Wolfen Jagers I shall probably pick up a couple more to use instead.

    1. There really nice having read the rules there;s some gaps that need urgently filling. As some factions like the Clickers can't actually be used as the main leader is missing....

  9. An interesting set of characters, though I find it hard to imagine either set as a "squad" (i.e. all the figures appearing in the same game). After all, most of them never met each other in the books and Mycroft (in particular) was especially known for *not* going out on any kind of expedition!

Still, literary history can be re-written in EotD, can't it?

    1. That is very true indeed. I mentioned above that various characters from these sets are split across the factions in the rules plus that some of the figures would be be best used for more one off themed games.

These are just how the where marketed as part of the kickstarter the boxed sets and blisters are going to have different contents when sold on retail.

  10. Not sure about Professor Moriarty. (Maybe I just need to see him painted.) All the others look great. Eager to see what you do with them.

    1. Yeah I prefer my Foundry one if I'm honest. Its not a bad sculpt it just doesn't represent him imo. I like Moran and Addler though.

  11. Lovely minis - can't wait to see how you paint them up :-)

  12. Nice minis, Simon. Your paint table will be quite full.
while I like the mini, a different pose would have been better for the Moriarty character. He is Sherlock's match in mental and physical abilities. Even if standing still I picture him being like a coiled spring. I like your previous version better. This one can be a rake, thug leader, or a number uno henchman. ;)
