Another busy week not much painting done this week as been busy writing the fiction for my Across the Dead Earth campaign. I did get a bit of paint on one of my Otherworld Adventurera but have had only the one painting session this week.
I Eventually decided to go for a gold colour for most of his armour with a silver helmet with gold detail this however put the light green trousers into a bit of a clash with gold. Since taking the pic the other night they are now grey in colour which seems to suit it better. The flash is making it out to be a lot lighter than it is but highlighting is the next stage with this guy as well as needing to start work on his backpack and shield.
Prep wise this week I have dug through my bits box and got out some Copplestone Castings Sewer Scavengers that I picked up and then did nothing with. They have now all had the mould lines removed a quick scrub in warm soapy water to make sure there's no mould release agent on them and glued to bases this morning.
This evening now I have a decent enough sized batch of figures will be spent applying putty to the bases hopefully meaning tomorrow morning (weather permitting) I'll give them a spray undercoat of white having them ready for next week.
Hola
ReplyDeleteBuena mesa as preparado
un saludo
Thanks :)
DeleteI like the sewer scavengers, they will make a good PA type group! I think the pants would have been fine in green on the knight. I am sure the grey looks even better as the flash did wash out the colors a bit in the picture.
ReplyDeleteYeah it just felt like it clashed. It looks better now. Yeah not sure exactly what there theme will be yet. They'll fit in with many gangs as generic members or just plain ol raider types.
DeleteThanks Sofie :) You to :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I really should get me some of those Otherworld mini's too. Been eyeing them for ages anyway...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing him painted!
They are lovely figures mate can really recommend them.
DeleteI like the knight in the first picture !
ReplyDelete(and your banner too : beautiful one ! what it is exactly ?)
Thanks Samwise. Its the Tower Bridge in London only Post Apocified.
DeleteThose scavengers are packing some serious firepower. Nice additions to your collection.
ReplyDeleteIndeed I I think only one Panzerfaust or Rocket launcher will get added to a gang.
DeleteThose sewer scavengers have some serious attitude. Looking forward to seeing what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteThey are really characterful sculpts
DeleteI remember the Grenadier ones and actually have there and loved the Mad Max look to them as I do these.
ReplyDeleteI want the grenadier ones but every time I go to the places that sell them one figures out of the sets is out of stock lol.
DeleteThe sewer scavenges were the first sets to come to mind when i first heard of ATDE on your blog. perfect or the game
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect. Though I can't wait for for the official figures either :)
DeleteLooking great Simon!
ReplyDeleteTa Michael!
DeleteNice work. You are really getting into this across the dead earth project It seems to be flying along. Be nice to see the sewer scavengers with a coat of paint so I know I will not be disappointed when you do get them done.
ReplyDeleteThanks there all based now. Weather is raining so no spray painting today. I'll probably paint these up singly rather than as a group but I'm sure i'll work my way through them quickly enough.
DeleteKeep it going Simon
ReplyDeleteWill do sir!
DeleteCan't go wrong with Copplestone figures, can you :-) ?
ReplyDeleteYour knight is looking very nice as well. The old GW "Dogs of War" mercenaries also used gold-plated armour. As I recall it was supposedly so that they couldn't be robbed easily or something like that!
No Copplestone has a great range indeed.
DeleteThanks as he's a Fantasy Adventurer I was kind of a bit weary of just doing standard platemail as a lot of my other characters are that colour. So I figured he's going to a bit more of a successful adventurer and has spent some coin on a magically enhance suit of armour :)
Nice collection of figures; the knight looks great. I like his rather beefy look - he looks imposing and powerful. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean he'll have more heft when the rest of his gear is added as well.
DeleteGreat work on the knight so far. I generally don't like gold too much, but it really suits a miniature like that.
ReplyDeleteAs the rest of the guys, I'm looking forward to see scavengers painted. They should be perfect for AtDE.
Thanks I think it suits the fantasy genre more so than historical miniatures.
DeleteCheers they have tattered and ripped clothing so are perfect.
