Spurred on by Wednesday nights game I fancied a bit of fire power to add to the relatively close ranged gang the Stour Raiders. I may create a new gang it depends If I can get the other miniatures finished for next weeks game.
I have nearly finished the four Empire of the Dead figures but I have run out of one of the grey paints I use for doing the bases and need to try and find an alternative paint to codex grey I've read Dawnstone (GW) is the equivalent but I've lost confidence in there paint range as the last few I picked up I wasn't impressed with the consistency of it.
Anyway here is Hasslefree miniatures Beth who I is based on a character from 'The Last of Us' its a great figure I have her colleague Clint who is being painted still. I decided to just do my own paint scheme rather than copy anything in particular. I love the pair of figures Beth has a scoped bolt action rifle and a good solid looking rucksack. I decided to go with a more modern look for the gun so did the stock a light green colour. I even had a play at doing red lenses on the scope you can see it in the side pics but is more apparent when looking at the figure itself than in the pictures.
Clint who hopefully I will have finished by tomorrow or Monday has a magnum revolver and machete.
Nicely done! and great idea for the gun stock being a green colour to make it more modern in appearance. Love how you paint denim : )
ReplyDeleteThanks very much mate. its really just building it up in layers with quite watery paint then just add a bit of white for each layer. :)
DeleteI'll give it a try.
DeleteCracking job Simon.
ReplyDeleteCool gun colour, inspired. Like what you've done with the rucksack too. Denim looks great as always.
Bizarrely I have also run out of Codex Grey and need to find a replacement, let me know how you go finding one. New GW paints suck ass.
Thanks very much Bob :D I'll let you know later in the week. I will probably fetch a bottle as I use it quite a lot.
DeleteShe looks great mate. Excellent work there. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the paint, maybe consider Vallejo London Grey or Neutral Grey.
Although looking at an online colour chart, the recommendations are: Cold Grey (050) (Vallejo Game Color); or Basalt Grey (869) (Vallejo Model color). Mr Models should have one or the other I reckon. Downside is going in there...
Thanks very much mate. Cheers for the recommendations as well I have just been looking at a comparison chart on dakka dakka
DeleteAn alternative online conversion chart supports my suggestion of Neutral Grey: http://www.evicerator.com/vallejotogwconversiontable.htm

lol and here are the links lol
DeleteShe looks awesome mate, bit jealous, I wish I had picked her up at salute now! Look forward to seeing Clint painted, I done mine based on Rick Grimes and like most of the hasslefree stuff it was such an enjoyable mini to paint
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave I have wanted this fig ever since I saw the Greens appear on facebook. I got Clint as well but Beth was always going to be a must get!
DeleteThat's a great figure, Simon, and your painting is really top quality. I may well copy your colour scheme when I get round to painting mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Bryan I will very much look forward to seeing yours done.
DeleteThat's a beautiful mini and a great paintjob.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Joe ;)
DeleteThanks Andrew.
ReplyDeleteCheers I think that's what I'm going to go for.
ReplyDeleteLet's Be honest Hasslefree do make some lovely figures. And you have painted her extremely well. I also like the Green Rifle stock, I wonder what it looks like with a few thin black camo stripes! Jeans also look very good.
ReplyDeleteThakns very much mate. I did think about trying that but then decided against it I didn't think the colours would look right.
DeleteYou've really nailed the denim now- great figure and paintwork. I use Vallejo Basalt grey now, as I've switched over completely from GW paints. I'm not sure how good a match it is, but you've got plenty of better-informed suggestions above.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much buddy and cheers for the suggestion :)
DeleteWell done, very nice work!
ReplyDeleteCheers Phil ;)
DeleteGreat mini, and love the paint job you've given it - look forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Mike ;)
DeleteShe looks amazing Simon, I love her pose
ReplyDeleteCheers very much mate.
DeleteAs always great paint job. I like the jeans colour you've made.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Simon , very nice model .
ReplyDeleteCheers .
Cheers Vincent.
DeleteWonderful work, Simon. Everything from her faded jeans to her countenance is well executed and full of character.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Dean. I really enjoyed painting her.
DeleteGreat use of blues and greens, Simon. The color scheme works extremely well.
ReplyDeleteCheers Finch, I didn't make a plan but I put a bit of though into the colours.
DeleteWell done, I like the colors and the pose. Makes for a good looking survivor, with still some interest in the 'action' of the fig.
ReplyDeleteWell done, great looking fig!
Thanks mate.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see a sniper model that isn't kneeling or lying down, covered in camouflage netting, isn't it :-) ?
ReplyDeleteFrom the figure, I cannot tell anything about this woman's competence with the gun - and that's a good thing for gaming as she could be fielded as anything from tyro to expert.
It is indeed she's not very tall mind I'd say teenager rather than woman. It was the civilian look of the gun as well which made her go straight onto the want list.
DeleteCracking work Simon.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Michael :)
DeleteNice job Simon, she looks very pragmatic
ReplyDeleteGreat job Simon.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on that figure she will make the perfect addition to your gang everyone needs a hunting rifle. I use Neutral Grey and Light Grey from Vajello for my EotD bases.
