Tobias Filch Gnome Thief/Illusionist.

Finished off another Otherworld miniature this week. The Last of the Gnomes that I have this time the Thief/Illusionist character. I'll probably use him more as a thief rather than a mage. I like this character a lot especially his leather cap that lined with fur. Armed with a trusty short sword a dagger sheathed at his ankle and holding a Finding Stone (I think its kind of a glowing gem). The model has tons of pouches and pockets.

Tobias Filch is a master thief, tinkerer and dabbler in the arts of magic (Which he uses to help find traps, unlock doors and chests, identify items of magical value and of course dispel the odd illusion hiding treasure). Tobias wanders from adventuring company to company often at there detriment to there members personal inventories and purses. Currently Tobias has joined up with some of his own kind Petril and Kat Shortcloak of the Fists of Iron Adventuring Company who are preparing for an expedition into the Dimwood on the hunt for a band of goblins who are raiding nearby
homesteads and villages.

  2. Wonderful stuff Simon. I especially like the group photo, as the scenery behind them (especially the branch) really works well. Your soft palette makes everything seem very realistic and lifelike. Thoroughly enjoying these postings and your splendid back-stories :-)

  6. He's a fine addition to your gnome party. Lovely paint job, as always. I do like the crystal he's holding. I've been painting a few of them myself for Super Dungeon Explore and they aren't the easiest of things to paint.

    1. Thanks. Yeah I wasn't at all sure about how to go about it. I didn't want to try a glow effect. I ended up basecoating it hormagaunt purple. washed with AP Purple wash. Highlight with H Purple then a very fine white highlight. I then washed with AP Purple again.

  10. I love these figures, though I'm beginning to develop a considerable dislike of gnome adventurers. They all seem to be quite untrustworthy characters!

  11. Great job, Simon. Like your choice of colors a lot.

The hat & droopy mustache combine to give this guy a very distinctive look.

    1. Thanks Finch he's full of character. Especially as he doesn't have the typical hooded look most thief characters have.

  15. Very nicely done with a good colour scheme. Only an reddish orange moustache could have brought the mini to life and you nailed it.
