Not been to any shows this year and my annual show the Derby Worlds has been cancelled this year again. So myself and Pulp Citizen both made plans to attend the UK Game Expo. I have been steadily saving up cash for this for a few months as Crooked Dice had planned to release their new Pulp themed boxed set at the Expo and I wanted to grab it as soon as possible as I am attending a Wargames Illustrated 7TV in July which is Pulp themed.
Being in Birmingham at the NEC it was nice and local for us so opted to catch the train which drops you right there with a quick swap at Birmingham New Street. We arrived just after 9am and grabbed a bit of breakfast before picking up our entry tickets. I don't know if we were lucky or what but we approached the ticket office and there was no queue what so ever so grabbed our tickets and with 10 minutes to spare wandered off to find somewhere to look through the program and plan our route.
Our main places to visit on the day were the Ares stand to meet up with Carl Packham for a natter and catch up. Crooked Dice to pick up the Pulp Boxed game and the Oathsworn stand to pick up some Burrows and Badgers bits.
The Crooked Cabinets had lots of sneak peaks as well as some new ones I had seen on Facebook but not in the flesh.

ReplyDeleteThe Children of the fields miniatures range is fantastic. It has a lot of really nicely done sculpts in it.
DeleteSo much lovely eye candy there, Simon. I'm looking forward to getting my 7TV Pulp set.
ReplyDeleteIts really good Bryan. I can't wait to get my hands on the Pulp KS minis when they arrive later this month.
DeleteWonderful! Crooked Dice really are at the top of their game at the moment.

Excellent report Simon & nice loot haul :)
ReplyDeleteCheers Frank.
DeleteThanks for all the cool pics. One of those Crooked Dice sculptors is possibly the best in the biz.
ReplyDeleteYeah Ernst does some cracking stuff.
DeleteThanks for sharing these pics - some bloody nice models with exquisite paintwork on them throughout, as well as some amazing looking tables.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome.
DeleteThanks for sharing Simon! Looks to have been a great day & you got some excellent loot!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day would definitely go again.
DeleteAbsolutely brilliant photos Simon! Thanks for sharing 😃 Lots of really great stuff coming that I have my eye on - actually pre-ordered the Oompa Loompas and Willy Wonka with my pulp KS, and that Deepone creature looks EXACTLY like the monster in the Jonny Quest episode 'The Sea Haunt', can't wait to get my hands on that one!
ReplyDeleteYeah I want some as well. I want to turn a set into Xmas elves.....
DeleteSo many wonderful miniatures on display. If only I knew earlier that there was such variety beyond W40K. Now my old man eyes can barely cope with tiny scale minis. ^^
ReplyDeleteThe last 10-15 years has really exploded with mini makers. GW I don't doubt being a big influence on those who moved on to create what we enjoy today.
