Anyway this has meant he been put by the wayside as a bit. But mooching around for something to inspire me after Christmas I started work on Tweedy. Finished him off last week adding the last few highlights and then the base took some pics in bit of dry weather Saturday afternoon. He'll come in handy for 7TV as he comes under the Department X cast so he can Join Hugo Solomon and Miss Pandora King.
The Alien drones are based and finished but I've forgot I need to satin varnish them so they'll get done and photo'd again for the weekend doh!
Nice work on him mate. I like the jacket.. looks a bit worn, which is right for someone time travelling through space!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much M R Lee I was going to have a bash at tweed but chickened out.
DeleteGreat paint job!
ReplyDeleteCheers Mike!
DeleteGreat job Simon, I like Dr Who, the old show is the best
ReplyDeleteThanks mate it is indeed. I'm not a huge fan but I enjoy watching it when it is on.
DeleteSplendid work on Tweedy. I look forward to seeing the police woman and maybe the re-paint of the other figures to bring them up to date.
ReplyDeleteThanks Clint. the police woman is done she will most likely visit the pot with the others.
DeleteExcellent paint job, Simon. You've done a first class job on him. I second Clint's request to see you tackle more Doctor Who figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan, I do like all of CD's other similar figs and they are on the list to get so you my well see them at some point.
Deletecool. how have you done the base please, if I may ask?
ReplyDelete(the texture is what I'm referring to, as there doesn't seem to be that great a depth of basing material used, but it's painted up as though there is plenty - er that mightn't make sense)
is is soft sand or some other basing material?
cheers.
I'm pretty sure its stippled (by using stiff old brush) milliput. It really comes out great.
DeleteThanks Mathyoo. Its basically a thin layer of milliput smoothed on to the top the base. I usually glue the slotter a 1mm or so above the base (well on I do these days on some of my old ones I didn't).
DeleteI smooth it flat with water and an old hobby knife. Then use a kids paint brush dipped in water (shake off the excess) then just press down gentle all over to rough up the surface.
If you check out Painting Table Saturday just gone you'll see it on the bio chem troops.
cheers, to the both of you! i'll give this ago.
DeleteI'm not a fan of Dr Who myself either, but a great paint job on him none the less!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave. I don't think I'd game with him as the doctor unless it was a special scenario. Tweedy has rules in 7TV so he'll get used in that.
DeleteGreat job and paint Simon .
ReplyDeleteCheers .
Thank you Vincent!
DeleteVery nice work sir, not a fan of the "new" show but he'd make a good civilian.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Bob. I watched it mostly when Sylvester McCoy was the doctor tbh. I watched all the series with Eccleston in but only sporadically watched the latest two. I have far to much other films and tv to watch I just can't squeeze it all in!
DeleteLooks great, easy to use as a civilian/scientist type in many games
ReplyDeleteThanks Ad that is most likely what he'll get used for or perhaps an objective for a rescue.
DeleteNice work!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir!
DeleteGreat paint-job Brummie and I'm sure he does look like one of the Doctors.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. I'm sure he does :)
DeleteVery cool looking character - I think he even knows he looks cool ;)! Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean its quite a cool pose tbh.
DeleteAh, he'd look really cool if he was wearing a fez, right :-) ?
ReplyDeleteYes it is all about the Fez isn't it :P
DeleteGreat work Simon, I have one of these from a blog giveaway by James Brewerton.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. Its a great figure to paint once you get started on him.
DeleteGreat paint-job, but there has to be something wrong with me, as I can't stop thinking about how neglected that grass is...this doesn't seem too English to me! :D
ReplyDeleteLOL Thanks mate. THe trouble with the lawn this time of year. Is that it is water logged and mowing is more likely to damage it as its wet it just sticks to the floor and doesn''t cut well. Kind of pointless young man! :P
DeleteHow could I know, I'm not English! :D
DeleteLOL :) well it is pointless cutting it so there you go :D
DeleteTop Job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job. One to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Joe
DeleteGreat work on him... he looks so alive!
ReplyDeleteThanks very kind words :D
DeleteGreat job, Simon. White can be a tricky color to work with at times but that shirt is spot on.
ReplyDeleteI would close with a sonic screwdriver joke but as I'm not really a fan of the show either such an attempt is sadly doomed to fail.
Thanks Finch, Yeah my attempt would of failed as well lol. I only know Daleks and Cybermen that is about the extent of my Doctor Who Knowledge
DeleteI've never watched much Doctor Who, but that is a well painted figure sir.
ReplyDeletethis goes for me too. Simon, I love your new headbanner
DeleteExcellent work on Tweedy sir. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much sir!
ReplyDeleteBravo that man. I'm not much of a who fan but you're paint job is tempting me to order one, just so I can drop him into my IHMN games an freak people out
