Been in the mood for painting some Fantasy figures after finally watching the first part of the Hobbit. Also i'm on the lookout for some Labyrinth or 'Froud' style goblins and stuff for fighting against these adventurers in SOBH.
Otto Graven is a mercenary for hire after being the sole survivor of a party that ventured into a goblin lair in order to clear it out. Not realising the goblins had a pet troll most of the party was kiled whilst the struggled to take down this regenerating menace. Eventually Otto managed to hack it down with his battle axe and then cover it with oil from his lamp and burning the remains. Otto unable to revive any of his comrades he returned a hero with his pockets full of treasure from the goblins stash. Otto has now equipped himself with the best suit of armour and gear money can buy. With a deep hatred for trolls Otto never goes anywhere without a few flasks of oil and plenty of torches just in case.
Otto is a cool figure, where is he from?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan. He's from Otherworld Miniatures Fighter V2
DeleteExcellent work.
ReplyDeleteOn the not-Froud front, have you looked at World of Twilight: http://www.worldoftwilight.com/Miniatures.html
Thanks mate. Yeah I have had a look at WoT very tempting indeed!
DeleteA splendid figure. Very well painted and looks like a great addition to your mercenary band.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Clint.
DeleteVery intimidating indeed... ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers and hates trolls :)
DeleteLooking good, look forward to seeing more fantasy from you Simon
ReplyDeleteCheers Ad. Got some more Across the Dead Earth figures to work on as well.
DeleteThat is a lovely figure and a great paintjob. With a few nips and tucks he could look just like the character on first, original Warhammer Fantasy cover.
ReplyDeleteYeah he is a little bit. Harry the Hammer wasn't it or something like that.
Delete'Uthmog Elvenblade' if my Google Fu serves me correctly.
DeleteSuperb Simon! Love the backpack.
ReplyDeleteThanks love the extra's that get sculpted onto these chaps and chapess's
DeleteI would have thought that as sole survivor of a bloody mission, he'd have quite a few psychological hangups! Or maybe, being a fighter, he hasn't the brains to feel fear.
ReplyDeleteNice model, by the way :-) .
Thanks No Sense No Feeling. I'm sure the lion's share of the loot and a few nights in the local tavern soon sorted out the kinks and what not :D
DeleteVery nice - the detail is great and well picked out, great backpack. Excellent as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Dan!
DeleteGreat job Simon.
ReplyDeleteFantasy isn't my bag, but he's turned out sweet dude.
Thanks Bob! Yeah its kind of a small on the side porject I only have 11 figures done for it so far. But have 6 or so to do.
DeleteA great figure that looks like your typical dungeon delver, exceptional brush-work as ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. Yeah I love the classic style of these guys but done in a modern sculpt.
DeleteHe looks amazing Simon, he must be some guy to fight in all that armour and back pack lol
ReplyDeleteAhhh but he has only just purchased all his new gear after the scrap with the goblins and troll. Cheers dude!
DeleteGood work Simon !
ReplyDeleteThank you Vincent!
Deletehe is so marvelous!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dezzie :)
DeleteI am a fan of Otherworld Miniatures and this miniature in particular. Your paint job has definitely brought the mini to life. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCheers very much. I love the Otherworld Miniatures. I shall certainly get more at some point especially some sort of goblin or orc if I can make my mind up about which!
DeleteWhat a wonderful work, congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil!
DeleteThe man who has everything. He is a great figure I love the otherworld figures, their bugbears seem very Frond to me. He is very well painted and I hope he doesn't suffer a varnishing mishap. I use Vallejo brush on varnish to avoid that myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate. I use brush on as well I think it was applied to thickly and pooled. I've started addin a drop of water and seems ok so far.
DeleteFrond? not sure what you mean? Fond?
DeleteSorry Froud.
DeleteTry a drop of flow extender.
DeleteGotcha! Cool will get some and give it a try.
DeleteVery nice, I may have to check out Otherworld miniatures, if that is the maker.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom Please do they do some great orcs and goblins!
DeleteGreat job! Especially on the armour. I think I said somewhere that I really like the metals you've picked - they really add to contrast.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much mate. I'm trying to pay a bit more attention to that lately seems to be paying off.
DeleteWell, I have finally trolled all the way down the comments from your followers, and fin that everything complimentary has been said, so, nice one matey!!
ReplyDeleteThanks mate! I love all the comments its spurs me on to do more stuff :)
DeleteA slightly more beat up shield and he could have been any number of fantasy adventurers I have played over the years. Great miniature.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much. :)
DeleteGreat job, Simon. The mix of steel and gold/copper-ish metallics is very apealing.
ReplyDeleteCheers Finch I have got fed up of just doing all the same coloured metals so this was very much out of my comfort zone.
DeleteGreat work sir.
ReplyDeleteThanks Buddy!
DeleteNice change of pace! Here I thought he was some sort of cosplayer or SCA in ATDE... :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Thanks yeah I'm on a no buying figures streak at the moment and he's been lingering on the painting table for a while. But I'm pleased. I think he'd make a good apocalyptic survivor though. Have you seen Doomsday?
DeleteThat's a really nice job!
