Triumphat last! Little Helpers!

Had some fun on Sunday Carmen and Leila my two girls where very interested in my adventurers I was working on last week and asked if they could help. So I had a rummage through my Drawers and found a sprue of Mantic Dwarfs (Thanks again Lord Siwoc!) so we set about building and getting them ready for some paint.

Giving the figs a quick rinse and a scrub before assembly.

Carefully removing the parts from the sprues with a pair of cutters

A quick transfer whilst Carmen decides to go and put on a Snow White Dress :D

Assembly was a little bit trick especially the shields says Carmen.

Carmen's four Dwarfs and Dog with Leila's single dwarf and the chosen 'sleeping' Dwarf :D

Undercoated and ready for paint.

  1. Of course it is vital to prepare wargames figures in a princess dress I am glad I am not the only one that does so! Nice to get them involved I hope both you and they had a good time. Always great to get Kids involved with parents hobbies!

  4. Great stuff! The kids once helped prep some metal Fow figures with me... One cut off the worst bits of flash with clippers, the other filed the bases flat and I filed the mold lines, they both enjoyed it! I was rather surprised!

  7. Child labour - I love it !

I tried for along time getting my family to help out when they were younger but it never happened.

(I was always thought Clint a bit suspect too btw)

    1. We'll see how long it lasts . I want to get something themed like Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal as they love both those movies and we watch them regularly.

  12. The "Sleeply Dwarf" needs a blanket so he won't catch cold. I'm glad to see everyone sets aside their tiaras I've found mine won't stay on with my head bent over the table.

    1. I've found that if you use hairslides they help with the position of the Tiara. I think he needs a bed to go in as well.

  13. Well done, mate. My lad is still a bit wee to be helping with Daddy's "zombies" (that's literally what he calls ALL of my miniatures) but I'll certainly be putting him to work as soon as he's old enough. I think my trainers are made in a similar way

    1. Cheers I hope there interest stays its took a while for my two I shan't force it upon them though I don't think that will work.

I'd have to agree about the trainer makers!

  16. Hah, training well done! If they'll be interested in the games, you might consider getting some bones characters - not sure how much they fit with otherworld miniatures, but they're cheap and look pretty darn well.

    1. Thanks yeah its an idea. I may get some of the big gribblies. I want them to be kind of recognisable. Pulp Citizen has mentioned trying World of Twilight as well so thats another game that might be worth trying plus it has a low model count.

  17. Hmm, I wonder if you'll be buying figures from the "Savage and Sparkle" range next? I'm looking on with interest; so far my daughter hasn't shown more than a passing interest in my toys...

    1. Ha I've never heard of that range until now. You have a wide knowledge of erm very girly miniatures! There are those pewter pony adventuring figurines

  18. It's great to see young ones interested in assembling and painting miniatures. I am fighting a losing battle myself against all the 'social media mobile electronics'; trying to get my son more interested in miniatures.

    1. We're trying to avoid those. They have access to them at school. They have a DS each but we restrict how much time and when. If the weather is good its outside they go :)

  19. Great stuff, Simon. The painting phase should be a blast for all involved.
