I am still alive post......Just busy!!

Hi everyone apologies its all been a bit quiet here on the hobby front. Real life has been in the way. We've had a new addition to the family, well I say new but we had him New Years Eve and he is 4 months old this weekend. So meet Frankie he is a Lab/Dogue de Bordeaux and we are enjoying having a pup in the family again and its cheered up our older dog Alfie no end having a companion. Frankie has grown super quick and is keeping us all on our toes!

Then the other thing is we are extending our extension and replacing our kitchen which started out really well but has hit a snag where we can't work out were the waste/water pipes enter the house under the extension meaning we are having to lose the kitchen 2 weeks in rather than 8 weeks in!

I've been trying to get some stuff done for a 7TV Apocalypse event on the 18th March next month however all the above has kind of impacted on my hobby time. I was hoping to get a Deathlands themed cast around the man known as  'Trader' and his companions. I've already got a military buggy done for my Joe project which I plan to use and my intention then is to paint up a Hummer with a few weapon systems on to carry more of my cast

So the two on the left will just be members of the crew. We have JB Dix then Trader himself. JB wears a Battered Fedora so I sort of reshaped the hat on this Hasslefree sculpt. Trader always smokes cigars and carries an Armalite AR15 so the old version of Hannibal Smith with an appropriate paint job and painted on beard/stubble should do the trick.

Trader from one of the Graphic Audio covers

The Armourer or JB Dix as is known as in the books.

Ryan Cawdor I did ages ago as dual purpose mini

A Crooked Dice Hummer I had in the stash. I plant to get it painted and just pin on a missile pod and a sort of light autocannon. I'll have these removeable so I can swap out different weapons on them.

Let see what the next few weeks bring!

7TV Pulp day Cast : The crew of the Lonely Matron.

I ran out of time to get my planned cast ready for the 7TV Pulp day at Board in Brum. I hastily grabbed a bunch of my Pulp figures from Statuesque and Pulp Figures and repainted the bases Friday morning so they all matched and then came up with this cast idea Friday afternoon whilst I was ahem 'working'

Meet the crew of the Free Company airship The Lonely Matron. On commission by King George V the Captain and crew are in pursuit of the nefarious Dr Von Klinkerhoffen an archaeologist who is a known member of Hitler's Occult research division.

Intelligence reports that Klinkerhoffen is heading to South America into the deep Amazon jungle in search of a huge emerald called the Eye of the serpent which is alleged to have mystical power over any plantlife enabling the user to control it with their mind. This would be a huge advantage to Hitler's forces if it was to fall into their control so McRolland has been despatched to intercept and capture Klinkerhoffen and the Eye of the Serpent or if not possible destroy both.

The Lonely Matron leaves its airfield near Edinburgh heading across the Atlantic on its vital mission for King and Country.

Starring

Captain Jimmy McRolland (Intrepid Adventurer)

First mate Reggie ' Ginger' Jones (First mate)

Guard Commander Dougie Finbarr (Rugged Veteran)

Chief Engineer Maddy Lane (Gadgeteer)

Second Engineer Smithy  (Grease Monkey)

Guard detail

(Officer and 6x Security Guards)

Front Row L-R Maddy Lane, Dougie Finbarr, Captain McRolland, Guard Officer, Reggie 'Ginger' Jones
Rear row L-R Second Engineer Smithy and Guard Detail

These are all pretty much ex-Statuesque Miniatures but I think owned by Pulp Alley so still available from them in the USA or Sally 4th in the UK and Captain McRolland is a Pulp Figure from the PHP10 Stalwart Companions set.

7TV Day IV Pulptastic! Plans part 4 Finally!

We are good to go for tomorrows Pulp day! Managed to work my around the busy schedule this week and get the final 3 figures that I wanted to get ready to take in my Gangster Cast on Saturday.

First up is the Hulking Henchmen Co Star from Crooked Dice who has just arrived from the recent kickstarter to support the Pulp set release. I have nick named Little Luigi and is Don Quintonelli's chief enforcer.

Next up is another Triggerman (Tommy gun thug) this one I've called Frankie but he will also get use as Dick Tracy later down the line once Crooked Dice release their own gangsters later this year.

Finally I have finished the Crooked Dice Kingpin from the kickstarter villains set. I was intending on using him as the boss but after sitting him next to all the others I am going to use him as the free Triggerman that comes with the  Kingpin Star instead. Mainly because the Kingpin doesn't have a Tommy gun and I want to use my Underworld boss model who looks more fitting as the Kingpin.  I have nicknamed him Ignacio.

The whole gang together. I've got a good selection now and can probably do a 40 rating cast if needed with some models able to cover multiple profiles as needed. I think the Dirty Cop may get replaced with a grungy looking detective type further down the line.

So the line up on the day is the following 30 ratings cast

Don Quintonelli (Kingpin Star) 10 ratings
Ignacio (Triggerman) free with ^^^
Little Luigi (Hulking Henchmen Co Star) 6 ratings

Mob Unit
The Bull (Mob Boss) 3 ratings
Mumbles and Big Jimmy (Mobsters x2) 4 ratings
Two Face (Triggerman) 2 ratings
Officer Murphy (Dirty Cop) 3 ratings

Frankie (Triggerman) 2 Ratings

Statuesque Miniatures Professor Felicity Poppington

This week work continues on getting the last few figures finished for the Pulp day this coming Saturday. Deciding on exactly what my cast is going to comprise of also need sorting and I have just realised I need to paint up a maguffin for it it just in case. However between other things I have got another Pulp Alley miniatures finished this time Professor Felcity Poppinton from Statuesque miniatures I am sure she will come in handy for 7TV Pulp though I am tempted to give Pulp Alley a go at some point.

This Weeks Hobby Goings on

Been a quietish week hobby wise. Getting back into the usual routine and having felt a little bit sniffly has left me feeling a bit tired. So I've not picked up a paint brush all week. I did assemble my Kitbash games figures. I haven't gotten around to picking up some milliput yet to do the bases as when I did get chance to get some Waylands Forge hadn't got any. But the good Gent Pulp Citizen has come to the rescue and has managed to grab me some when passing another model shop. So I shall pick that up at some point and crack on with basing these supers and get them primed and started the weekend.

Gaming wise I managed quite a few this week. Sunday saw me trying Here's Negan for the first time. Firstly solo running all 5 characters myself as I woke up ridiculously early and couldn't get back to sleep. It was a good learning experience and I played through scenario 1 the sort of training mission. I managed to escort Negan off. But he got enraged a few times at the lack of progress or people getting in the way so Rep score were knocked back down a couple of times and Laura got bitten on the last tile.

Second game was with my two girls. I played as Dwight and the girls split the other 4 between them This was a totally different game. Zombies kept pouring in from front and behind thanks to the event deck. Lots of fluffed attacks meant it was hard to  gain ground and Negan got real pissed and even had to be called into help at one point (Free action on of his cards.) This was a tough game with several of the characters being incapacitated and having to recover. a Fire in one of the rooms early on took a few turns to get to thanks to an event card opening a room before a character reached. Raised the threat level to the point where the was no coming back and eventually it peaked and the game ended just as the characters tried to secure the final room.

I'd arranged to meet my mate for some 7TV gaming Thursday night so Wednesday evening I spent trying to figure out a way of choosing the archtypes for my Statuesque miniatures I have. But gave up in the end as I wasn't happy with my choice so have left it be for now and shall ponder on it more another time.  So it left me then to think of a cast to take in there place. A comment made by Vagabond on my plans for 2019 post got me thinking about all my figures that I've painted but never got around to using so I went and picked a load of characters from my 7TV storage boxes that I know haven'y been gamed with and put them all in case and came up with variant lists support by Coppers, Bodyguards and soldiers.
Thursday saw a cracking nights gaming at Board in Brum. I met up with another mate Alistair whom I met at the 7TV back in September. I chose my Sweeney list that I had thought up with a Tough Detective, Depenable Deputy, leading a Bodyguard unit (whom I saw as other flying squad members) supported by a Police Marksman.

We rolled up The Hit and we decided it would be best thematically if I defend the VIP against his Shiva cast which comprised of the Destroyer, Kali, and a squad of minion.

The Sweeney tried to prevent a VIP from being assassinated by the Guru's assassin's.

The Destroyer deployed by Jet pack bringing down the Tough Detective, marksman and and and bodyguard. With the Dependable Deputy being wound and the finished of by Kali's deadly blowpipe.

The VIP fled whilst his body guard held a rear guard action. But was caught in a gas explosion as he tried to have a crafty fag to calm his nerves from his narrow escape.

The Bodyguard bruiser and his remaining colleague emptied clip after clip into he Destroyer but failed to bring the monster down.

Managed a quick second game which I mostly forgot to take pics. We switched around our casts a bit. (Well a lot in m case) This time I had a Flamboyant Agent, Strongarm and Unit of Army Privates let by a Corporal. Against Alistair's Shiva cast.

This time Kali, A Daughter Of Shiva, Marut, and sligtly smaller unit of Minions. But my flamboyant agent, strong arm and soldier unit were mercilessly cut down in a failed ambush against Kali, A daughter, Marut and a squad of minions. They fought a hard fight but the flashing blade of the Daughter made short work of the army unit with Marut picking off the stragglers and wounding thee Strongarm. A massive explosion took out most the minion squad. With the Strongarm knocking the stuffing out he minion commander. The Flamboyant agent managed to knock Kali's down to a single wound before succumbing to her deadly blade.

I know need to plan some sort of cast for the 7TV again at Board in Brum in two weeks time. It looks like its going to be an awesome event with 20 players attending. I'm looking forward to it. Though I haven't a clue yet what sort of theme I want to go for.

Rogue Miniatures Riggs and Murtagh

So first up in this month hero theme is Riggs and Murtaugh of course from Lethal Weapon (Also a Christmas movie Die Hard fans) These are sold by Rogue miniatures. (There are issue with the website currently but you can contact them through there Facebook Page to Order)

These are both really nicely detailed sculpts to paint from the details on Riggs Jacket to the little touches like the belt holster, wedding band and tie pin on Murtaugh. At first I thought Murtaugh was perhaps a bit to tall but looking it up he is 6 ft 4 inches!! So fits well really.

I have ideas now for some 8TV using these guys it would make a fun cast with some regular cops as back up. Just need a beat up station wagon for them to ride around in.
