Burrows and Badger Scatter Scenery and Baggage.

These have been lingering base coated for waaay to long arriving not with the recent kickstarter but the one that arrived in February 2019!!! So between finishing characters off I have chipped away at these items and got them completed.

A bit of graffiti from a well known fox family that is against the royal household.
These baggage item belong to a Stoatbart Wagon kit. I need to assemble the MDF wagon and paint it alongside the crew who pull it. I need to get a base for It I think though.

Trees, Trees and more Trees

Well its all been a bit weird for me lately in the Brummie Household. Before Christmas I ended up having some weird skin reactions and since then have been on some strong anti histamine tablets, But since seeing a specialist last month and having to double what I normally take every day I have noticed a significant increase in tiredness and lack of concentration which at first I had just put down to lacking motivation but have now twigged that this a side effect of the medication. So hoping to become more productive and trying to over come the meds side effects. So I am trying to get half an hour in each day of some sort of hobby activity.

Anyway so doing little bits each day has resulted in not really painting much in regards to miniatures but have been getting some simple tasks done. I've had a quite a few kickstarters arrive over the past month or so with a two of the large one being from Oathsworn Miniatures Burrows and Badgers kickstarter and my Crooked Dice 7TV Apocalypse kickstarter landing.

I plan to write some more posts on the kickstarters in the coming weeks. In regards to Burrows and Badgers I want to start getting some games in to learn the rules but really need to sort some terrain for it. So This week I have been getting around to making some generic terrain that I've been put off for a few years!!

So this week I dug out out my trees I got off ebay (about 3 years ago or more I think now!!!) and got them based. I used some 40mm mdf bases I got from Colonel Bills stand last year. I trimmed off the plastic pin off the tree trunk and then used a hot
glue gun to affix them to the bases. I left it 24 hrs between stages just to make sure everything had dried fully before the next step.

Glued down onto the bases

Some scale shots with other figures. I may pick up a few larger trees to dot about I think.

There are two sizes of tree I picked up two bags so have 9x 10cm and 10x 8cm size trees. The tenth10cm tree I have used for something else which you will see below.

I add some brown paint to the water that was used to mix the filler. I was hoping it would help get a better coverage. As paint over filler before has took quite a few coats as the white seems to soak up the pigment. It still took two coats of Burnt Umber afterwards to get a uniform colour

I then added some of my coarse flock I use on my miniatures bases in random patterns but still leaving the brown base under neath showing. I add some random bits of clump foliage to some bases just to add a bit of variety

The Tenth tree I had used previously on this Apocalyptic Terrain piece. I used the opportunity to get this finished.

Now all flocked with some clump foliage attached. I now need to seal them all but not sure what with or how yet. Will be doing some research on that or open to suggestions?

Post Apocalyptic Ruins set

Its funny how things turn out. I had been gathering some bits to make another large ruin to give some more height to games as most my ruins are simple corner ruins or single floor. A friend of mine Gary Lynn who I've known a good while and whose love is to make terrain for of all sorts games happened to show me some Post Apocalyptic ruins via messenger that he had made and was about to list to sell. So after a little bit of thought (possible 1 or 2 seconds) I decided to purchase them.  Not just to save myself some time and effort, but because they were such an awesome set and would expand my table massively as well as giving me my tall ruins.

The full set including shipping was £90 but when you see the pics and detail you can see they are well worth it. I am going to have a think about some scatter terrain and have a chat with Gary.

Shipping was by courier and arrived very well packed. They are also really solid and sturdy as well lots of cool details every time you look at it. Well worth the money in my opinion!

Now in my possession i got some figs out for some pics.

Here's a little video I made just showing the set of 5 ruins.

If your after anything like this or just fancy a nose check out  Diary of Scratch Building Lunatic Is his facebook group where he shares his work and often sells items. If there is something your after drop Gary a PM and have a chat.

Batman Miniature game Katana

Busy work schedule has meant not much going on in Brummie towers. I managed to get one figure finished this week as well as a little bit more work on some post apoc ruins.

First up the BMG (Batman miniature game) Figure I finished this week is Katana. Katana is a Free agent and shows up in various comics with Birds of Prey and her own story arc. I really love this character she is armed with a soul taker Katana which carries the soul of her dead husband within it. I have recently read her comics and they are pretty dam awesome.

In the BMG Katana is Free Agent available to both Green Arrow and Batman crews and offers some close combat support doing blood damage with her sword which is nice as a lot of these crews tend to do a lot of stun which you can heal. Katana also packs some shuriken for a little bit or ranged punch and has some nice little buffs and debuffs she can do with Precise Blow and Feint traits.

Terrain wise I returned to some my Mantic ruins and added some more texture to the bases ready for painting. It needs sealing again with black paint/pva.

I also picked up some cheap trees from China and have begun to have a little play with them. I need to mock up some standard tree bases rather than the post apoc themed one below.  I think they look quite decent.

The 10cm tree

 The 8cm tree

Also picked up a cheap Topiary ball from Home Bargains for £2 the leaves are quite small on these. I plan to snip it off and to some of the ruins and onto the car above.

Scatter terrain Ainsty Castings Stacked Crates

Whilst mulling over what to do next this week I got these quickly painted up for my next game of 7TV and of course crates can be useful in any setting really.

Looking at my terrain a lot of it is neutral or brown or weathered like my rusty industrial set. So decided to go with brighter colours to lift the table a bit more. So went for 3 in camo green and 3 in an orange colour. I shall probably pick up another set or two of these as they are inexpensive for the money really and fill out the table. Also give some cover for those long bridges.

Hospital Visit and Scatter Terrain

Been a strange week. Spent Thursday night being rushed off to A&E after
having a funny turn and collapsing in the kitchen followed by some kind of seizure. It all only lasted about a minute and I have no recollection apart from a horrible heartburn/indigestion feeling just prior to it.

I came around and after being checked out by the fantastic paramedics got taken to City hospital as a precaution and to have some more tests. All carried out by the wonderful staff at City Hospital I got discharged in the early hours of this morning.

Been taking it easy today and I'm fine apart from having a very sore wrist which I must of fell on and having achy muscles all over. Been taking it easy watching movies on the TV and resting.

I've got to go to some sort of fit clinic but I get the feeling they won'y find anything hopefully this will just be a one off thing.

Hobby wise I had been working my way through some of the Scatter Terrain I painted up from the Mars Attacks Ruins sets.

First up some brick piles these have just been stuck together as they come in two halves. Glued onto a base which has then been textured. Lots of drybrushing and a wash here and there and there done.

Next up a bit more variety two sets of wooden fencing which I've to make look old and distressed.

A Barrier made from a rather thick door, crates and some steel cross beams. I've painted the door as if its a metal door especially considering its thickness. As well as a Stop sign which I've just textured the base and painted so it appears, worn and rusty.

Finally a sign post. There are plenty of the signposts dotted around Birmingham city centre pointing to various attractions and other places. I've repurposed the signs so they point Across the Dead Earth cities The Rag Market (Birmingham) and New Venice (London) I realised after I took the pics that I made a bit of a mistake with the arrows directions. But perhaps that has been done on purpose to confuse the States enemies.

The Lower sign just says water and trade just to fill out the gaps on it.

Just planning to chill this weekend, got the Christmas lights turn on at the local shops down the road we might pop down to and Sunday i'm going to a small local show called Wargamer(sorry website isn't the best)  where hopefully going to pick up some tufts and other bits and bobs.

Keep safe people and have a good weekend.

Busy Week, Batman, Buildings and Buttocks!!

Missed Wednesday's post this week but it has still been a busy one hobby wise. Tuesday I visited Pulp Citizen's domain for our 350 rep Batman game I mentioned last month. As well as working on some terrain and painting mini's!

Before I delve into the weeks goings on. Does anybody have any spare Crossbows and quivers from the Fireforge Foot Sergeants boxed set. I am after about 5 for some post apoc conversions and prepared to pay a fair price for some if anybody has any knocking about unwanted.

Batman Game.

I made a few tactical deployment errors to start with which was not putting all my gang the full 10cm on to the board and placing my objectives in awkward spots. My Titan thug and a borrowed tube prisoner tied up the left flank and eventually the rest of my gang managed to throttle the centre and right hand side kicking Black Mask's crew off two of his objectives allowing me to claw back some much need VP's resulting in I suppose a minor victory of  33vp to 31vp (or a draw IMO) at the end.

It was another hugely enjoyable game it last a lot longer but took a little bit longer to get going as it was the largest game played so far and had more figures to manage. I am thinking of starting up another crew possible LAW or maybe even a Batman crew undecided at the moment but leaning towards a LAW crew.

Terrain.
Inspired by PC's new terrain that he has finished recently has given me a kick up the arse to get some work done on the Mars Attacks Ruins I started bloody age ago. I've dusted these off and split the project in half. I have got all the small scatter and the small ruins bases textured and primed. Next job is to get it all painted then will get the bigger ruins done.

Painting.Painting wise I have been working on two figures this week the intention was to get a female raider finished armed with a flail and shield but I got distracted by a second figure I was beginning to basecoat using spare paint from the female raider........

Anyway the figure I finished is this guy as you can tell its a very 'inspired' by version of Wez from the Road Warrior. I only started doing the skin and got carried away its a fab sculpt and i've really enjoyed painting this figure. Even the bloody buttocks!

I really hope that Westfalia Miniatures put these up on general sale at some point I'd really like a second set. I'm very glad I managed to back this kickstarter as for the moment there KS only!!!! Hopefully the female raider will be finished next week.

MDF Wargames Tournaments Industrial set

Things are slowing down at Brummie towers. Prep for our holiday at the end of August has began so the hobby time is now becoming less. It will all pick up in September when I get back and I am pottering around with various bits.

I have to say a big thank you to both Colgar6 of Colgar6 and the Infinite Legion of Toy Soldiers and Kieron of Cheaphammer!! who both sent me some Necromunda figures they had going spare.

I got the Telekinetic Wyrd and a complete set of Scavvies with Mutations and nicely painted as well! As well as a pair of Delaque Juves who need some weapons to get them back on the table.

Talking of which my recent sale of my Empire of the Dead stuff as well as trading a fair bit has given me some cash to spend and some addition to the Necromunda Collection. So far I've managed to collect the basic sets with a few extras for the following gangs which is a great start. Some especially the later Fanatic releases are tricky or expensive to come by it seems. I think I will concentrate on the first Editions

1st/2nd Edition  Orlock Gangs.
1st/2nd Edition Goliath Gangs (the 2nd edition need better weapon choices but there all complete).
Escher.
Delaque.
Van Saar.

Character wise
2x Bounty Hunter
Kal Jericho!!!!!!!
Mad Donna
Brakar the Avenger!
1x Scum
A bunch of Spyrers

I also purchased this off  Ebay  last week its a Wargames Tournaments Industrial set. This was not direct and I managed to get it shipped to me for £50 they usually sell for around £70 plus shipping for painted so I am chuffed I spotted it and managed to snag it. There there different sizes set doubling and then trebling what I have here. I have already looked at some of his other buildings he offers and think they will compliment what I have quite nicely.

There store is worth checking out theres is tons of stuff for sci fi, post apoc, bases, forest bases etc
Wargames Tournaments Ebay Store

I assume when new it comes flat packs like most MDF kits.

It came flat pack. I have glued together the legs of the towers, the ladders and the barriers to the walkways. I need to get a deeper storage box so for know have disassembled them so they don't get damaged. You also get separte barriers that slot in along the edges I've not glued these on as it reduces the configuration you can set up the towers. It covers a good amount of ground. I may pick up a few extra towers later in the year. As I had quite a few spare walkways, ladders and barriers.

Its a good size I think it will work well in most Post Apoc settings as well as Batman, Pulp City and other games.

 The barriers that slot in.

Left over walkways, barriers and ladders from this setup.

I need to make some toxic pools and get some boxes, barrels etc to scatter about next.
