Titanium Dropship 2014 entry

Well the pics went up on the Dropship Horizon page today of my entry for the Titanium Dropship 2014 painting competitions. No winners have been announced as yet.

The Hunters of Nta'Mek-ta

"A pack of blooded hunters led by Nta'Mek-Ta (The Silent Stalker in Yautja language). These figures are part of a larger Aliens Vs Predator project which wil eventually will have the Corporation, Marines,  Aliens and of course the Predators which will probably have a few more hunter packs.

Miniatures are all Khurasan apart from the Yautja hunting falcon which I sculpted myself. Didn't get the ship finished in time but it will do as background for the pics."

My Predator Falcon sculpt simple shaped putty the rest is done by the paintjob. I'm quite pleased really.

Khurasan Space Demon's Completed

Got the Drones and Queen based and have varnished them in a Satin varnish its very subtle and you can't really see it in the pics but they do have a slight sheen to them. Theres 12 more to start on but I want a break from doing army size amounts of figures.

Thinking of doing some more fantasy themed figure this week as a good friend of mine Doctor Warlock sent me a spare copy of In Her Majesty's Name and a bunch of  figures mostly various breeds of dog and a classic Troll!

My first pack of Predators (Yautja) are done as well. I entered them in the Titanium Dropship Competition over at the Dropship Horizon blog. I shall post up the pics of my entry once its all been judged and what not. There was no rules against it but I decided to wait anyway :)

Alien Batch 1 finished and Yautja Test scheme

Theres been a distinct lack of painted stuff here at Brummies Wargaming blog lately so here we are got the first batch of Alien Drones finished this week and the Queen. I might darken the heads on the drones I've tried to create the effect of light reflecting of the domed head. They are going to be varnished with a satin varnish I've been recommended which is not matt and not to glossy so want to get that appearance you get in the movies. What do you think?

None of the base's are done this will be done in one big batch as I mix paint in with the pva etc when basing them.

Here is the test scheme for the Yautja its not been highlighted or anything yet this is just the base colour's with a black wash over the top. The metal is in two tones its a base of shining gold over black then the edges painted on plate mail. What do you think so far?

The Yautja have landed!

Been mostly doing work on the buildings spent an evening gingerly filing off some of the markings from the tops of the buildings and then another starting a small Yautja shuttle/space ship. (Yautja being the proper name for Predator Species).

The body comes from an old computer mouse you may of seen these before as they where going to be a two man grav vehicle for my spy fi stuff that never got finished. I may dismantle the second one and do it up as a second vehicle being as I have quite a few Yautja that will need a ride. Its needs some more detailing at the moment its not based as I will paint it up and do that after it will sort of be tilting forward slightly. The stones will be sort of sensors but they'll be painted over as well. The wings at the rear have come from the packaging that come with most kids toys I've filed them down then pinned them to the body.

The back and the part where the buttons join in the middle need finishing off as there is a hole where there wheel button was and I'm in two minds whether to add some sort of burner/thruster to the back of it.

Also my package from Finland arrived on Friday with some more figures for this project. I already had the 3 single vacation Aliens (Yautja) from Khurasan but wanted to add in some Khurasan Huntarr (More Yautja) to increase the numbers and so I could play some games where I have Yautja Hunters trying to capture an Alien Queen for egg laying purposes.

There are four packs of Huntarr which strangely have disappeared of the Khursan site recently so I was a bit disappointed but a random browse of the Lead Adventure Forum's bazaar I spotted a pack of each for sale! Huzzah!

I can't tell you what the specific packs are called one is obviously a leader pack and one they heavy plasma burners and there are two packs here that have the typical Yautja weapons and one pack with the retractable spears and one of just wrist blades. These all come with the shoulder burners as well which need glueing on. As a bonus I have recieved 9 spear armed Yautja instead of 8 so happy days. Most of these all have 2 of each sculpt per pack apart from the heavy burner pack which you get 3. I plan on converting some anyhow. I quite fancy having some discs, net launchers and perhaps a whip theres quite a variety of weapons in the various movies.

The boys with the heavy artillery. These will be Blooded Warriors that usually over see hunting parts and carry the heavy weapons.

This next pic is what I intend to make the Yautja  Hounds from the Predators movie from they are going to need a bit of putty work mainly to add spines I intend on adding around 5 spines to each one to give the impression of the movie ones. They are wearing sort of body armour which I don't mind as again there's a large variety with equipment. These originally come from Micro Panzer a Vaethaka Hound unit. These where bought from the same guy who I got the Huntarr from so it was like it was meant to be as I'd earmarked these a year ago for the role! The main thing that held me back was the overseas shipping and only wanting this single pack which in my mind pushes the cost up of the figures.

Khurasan Exterminators Part 2

Well what a week really big storms hit the UK Monday night/Tuesday Morning. Whilst watching the storm pass by drinking a cup of tea at 7:30 am a bolt of lightning hit the lamp post outside our house about maybe 18 feet away. That was a shock I'll tell you big blinding white flash a very odd sensation in your stomach and sparks flying off the lamp post. Scariest storm ever for us bit to close for comfort. Luckily power was fine but Cable TV and Internet was knocked out coming back on Late Wednesday evening!

Proved useful in the end was nice to just have the radio on caught up on some reading and started and finished all the remaining Exterminators and based the lot. Happy days!

Onto the pictures I now have 20 Marines finished and 2 Sentry guns. These are all the current packs that Khurasan do for this range. I have seen some snippets off new additions but they've not been released yet.
I shall have to get a few more basic squads mainly to get some more riflemen. I have quite a few special weapons its seems.

Onto the pictures! Thanks must go to Mr.Harold of Clear Horizon 15mm Sci-Fi who helped me decide on how to base them. Basically Black with a light dry brush of Grey the clincher being it would work in a Space ship environment as well.

I've taken a few scenic pics and the some of them in the packs they come in from Khurasan. The sentry guns come with packing crates but i'm not sure what to do with them yet as they won't really perform an in game function as I see it so they will get painted up and used as scenery.

I left the cases unmarked so I can use the medics as riflemen as the case could be anything.

The Basic Squad, Sergeant, Flame Thrower and 2x Smart Gunners. More of these will be need to provide more riflemen.

What to paint next..... Hmmm got Queen cleaned and Assembled and the 3 Predators. 20 Drones are still sitting in there packets but need to raid the piggy bank for Pennies for bases.

Khurasan Exterminators Part 1

Title says it all really with the cooler weather this weekend my enthusiasm increased to get these guys finished. Superb little figures by Khurasan Miniatures. Full of lovely little details they really do surprise me that they are 15s. Thanks for the painting tips on the previous posts i've tried to take notice and hope these look slightly better.  They still need basing howeverI really can't make up my mind with what colours? Any Suggestions?

The next ten have been started as well as two sentry guns and will be well on there way to being finished by the weekend fingers crossed.

Being as the weather is so nice again today I took some pics out in the garden for a change. On another note i'm really chuffed with how these guys look as I have had these a while and was bit apprehensive about paint 15mms figures. The bug has bitten and there will be more.

AVP Project is go !!!

Well I have started my 15mm Aliens Vs Predator Project. It includes Colonial marines and when I can decide what figures to use Corporate mercenary's as well. Some other Alien races may participate not decided yet the galaxy is a big place and you never now!  (Khurasan have some seriously cool Tigers and I quite fancy some GZG Aliens/troopers as well Armies Army Neo Brits!

I've finally got a scheme for my Khurasan Exterminators that I'm happy with. The first batch are nearly finished. Painting 15mm has been a bit of a learning curve on the next batch some steps will be missed out which should make painting them a bit quicker.

Here is a couple of quick WIP photos took this morning. theres still little details do bit of metal here and there and suit lights etc. Basing is still a bit hmmmm at the moment. but I most likely decide once i've got the other 10 Exterminators the 20 drones, the queen and my 3 Predators painted. Oh and 2 sentry guns :)

Haven't though of rules but considering maybe tomorrow's war as there new supplement for it has peaked my interest in it.

Any suggestions or tips please pop them in the comments as 15mm is very new to me i've never ever dabbled in this scale before.

Lets hope this weather continues its super!!

Paint Scheme Dilema

Now I've mentioned in previous posts and on various other peoples blogs that I'm going to be doing a 15mm Sci-Fi project this year. I've probably already said its going to be an Aliens Vs Predator themed one following the PC game more and the books so there will be quite a lot of stuff that perhaps different to what expected from the films.

Anyway my dilema is I have these lovely figures from Khurasan to use as 'not' marine's however I'm stuck. I can't decide on what colour to do the guys webbing or gloves.

Here is what I've done so far on a handful. The black bits will be metal eventually with the same camo green gun casings.

Any suggestions folks?
