Danger 5 Nazi Cast

These were originally what I was hoping to get finished for the recent 7TV Pulp Day. However I only managed to get Hitler and Blondie (Hitlers dog) finished with the Shock Trooper squad only being 80% finished. I still also need to get another Co Star done Though I am still working on him but other things have had to skip the queue as I have a Burrows and Badger event coming up on the 1st October and want to get a few more models done for that.

These were a free sprue that came with Wargames Illustrated a few years back. They are Warlord Games Bolt Action winter infantry. I went with mostly KAR 98K rifles and MP40s for the sergeant/Officer. But the sprue game with all sorts of weapons. Panzerfausts, MP44s, G43 rifles but as I wanted them to fit an earlier period I went with the weapons mentioned earlier. I quite enjoyed doing these both assembling and painting. Though I probably would need to pick up some different paints if I was todo an army as I don't have German Field Grey and the other colours were mixed to match as good as possible to the Historical painting guides I'd been looking at.

I had to improvise with some of the arms so the trooper on the left is actually carrying ammo for a MG34 which the squad doesn't have. If I do decide to get some more and expand them then I will add an Mg34 armed trooper to the squad. The Sergeant and Officer got the MP40's

Next up is Adolf Hitler himself. This model is from the Danger 5 set by Crooked Dice and is based of the rather amusing Series called Danger 5. Played by Carmine Russo

I went for just a black cross instead of the Swastika and applied the same to Golgo Satana below

Blondie is Hitlers dog both in real life and in the Danger 5 series however it is played by a rather amusing smoking puppet in the series.

I rebased Golgo Satana by Statusque and repainted her shoulder pips and armband to match Adolf's.

The Whole Cast together eventually I will have another officer and I may get some of the excellent Jet Troopers by Pulp Figures to round the cast out a bit.

7TV Pulp day Cast : The crew of the Lonely Matron.

I ran out of time to get my planned cast ready for the 7TV Pulp day at Board in Brum. I hastily grabbed a bunch of my Pulp figures from Statuesque and Pulp Figures and repainted the bases Friday morning so they all matched and then came up with this cast idea Friday afternoon whilst I was ahem 'working'

Meet the crew of the Free Company airship The Lonely Matron. On commission by King George V the Captain and crew are in pursuit of the nefarious Dr Von Klinkerhoffen an archaeologist who is a known member of Hitler's Occult research division.

Intelligence reports that Klinkerhoffen is heading to South America into the deep Amazon jungle in search of a huge emerald called the Eye of the serpent which is alleged to have mystical power over any plantlife enabling the user to control it with their mind. This would be a huge advantage to Hitler's forces if it was to fall into their control so McRolland has been despatched to intercept and capture Klinkerhoffen and the Eye of the Serpent or if not possible destroy both.

The Lonely Matron leaves its airfield near Edinburgh heading across the Atlantic on its vital mission for King and Country.

Starring

Captain Jimmy McRolland (Intrepid Adventurer)

First mate Reggie ' Ginger' Jones (First mate)

Guard Commander Dougie Finbarr (Rugged Veteran)

Chief Engineer Maddy Lane (Gadgeteer)

Second Engineer Smithy  (Grease Monkey)

Guard detail

(Officer and 6x Security Guards)

Front Row L-R Maddy Lane, Dougie Finbarr, Captain McRolland, Guard Officer, Reggie 'Ginger' Jones
Rear row L-R Second Engineer Smithy and Guard Detail

These are all pretty much ex-Statuesque Miniatures but I think owned by Pulp Alley so still available from them in the USA or Sally 4th in the UK and Captain McRolland is a Pulp Figure from the PHP10 Stalwart Companions set.

Statuesque Miniatures Red Queen

Finished another random figure off as a bit of a cleanser for working on my other cast members. To be fair she has been probably three quarters finished since I did my gangster cast for 7TV Pulp a while back so didn't need a lot doing besides washing and then highlighting and with only a few colours was quite quick todo. I was going to say its my last Statuesque miniature that I had picked up but I just remembered. that  I still have Dr Fang, Captain Wolf and some Asylum characters lurking in the lead pile!

The Red Queen and Da Denton (these come as a pair)

All my Pulp Ladies so far.

I am sorely tempted to take these to the 7TV in some form of Spy Fi cast as besides the Femme Fatale who joined my gangsters the others have never seen the table top!

Action Force Quarrel (Alpha Squad)

Hi everyone. Not been hobbying much of late just not had to much inclination. I have found not being able to play games or goto events a bit of a drag. I have done some a bit here and there and a while back I finished this lovely lady for my Gi Joe/Action Force Project.

Quarrel is the sort of Action Force equivalent of the Joe's Scarlett character. In fact its pretty much the same toy just in different colourings. I didn't want to get another copy of the figure I used for Scarlett so had a look through the bits box and found some appropriate pieces. The weaponry is different but to mit doesn't matter to much as Quarrel is better known for riding the rapid fire motorcycle than anything else.

The figure body itself is a Hasslefree miniatures whose head I had removed to use for my New Avengers Purdey conversion. Not wanting to waste it I added a spare head from Statuesque miniatures and painted it an appropriate scheme. I have some other infantry which I have started putting the basecoat colours on.

7TV Day IV Pulptastic! Plans part 4 Finally!

We are good to go for tomorrows Pulp day! Managed to work my around the busy schedule this week and get the final 3 figures that I wanted to get ready to take in my Gangster Cast on Saturday.

First up is the Hulking Henchmen Co Star from Crooked Dice who has just arrived from the recent kickstarter to support the Pulp set release. I have nick named Little Luigi and is Don Quintonelli's chief enforcer.

Next up is another Triggerman (Tommy gun thug) this one I've called Frankie but he will also get use as Dick Tracy later down the line once Crooked Dice release their own gangsters later this year.

Finally I have finished the Crooked Dice Kingpin from the kickstarter villains set. I was intending on using him as the boss but after sitting him next to all the others I am going to use him as the free Triggerman that comes with the  Kingpin Star instead. Mainly because the Kingpin doesn't have a Tommy gun and I want to use my Underworld boss model who looks more fitting as the Kingpin.  I have nicknamed him Ignacio.

The whole gang together. I've got a good selection now and can probably do a 40 rating cast if needed with some models able to cover multiple profiles as needed. I think the Dirty Cop may get replaced with a grungy looking detective type further down the line.

So the line up on the day is the following 30 ratings cast

Don Quintonelli (Kingpin Star) 10 ratings
Ignacio (Triggerman) free with ^^^
Little Luigi (Hulking Henchmen Co Star) 6 ratings

Mob Unit
The Bull (Mob Boss) 3 ratings
Mumbles and Big Jimmy (Mobsters x2) 4 ratings
Two Face (Triggerman) 2 ratings
Officer Murphy (Dirty Cop) 3 ratings

Frankie (Triggerman) 2 Ratings

Statuesque Miniatures Professor Felicity Poppington

This week work continues on getting the last few figures finished for the Pulp day this coming Saturday. Deciding on exactly what my cast is going to comprise of also need sorting and I have just realised I need to paint up a maguffin for it it just in case. However between other things I have got another Pulp Alley miniatures finished this time Professor Felcity Poppinton from Statuesque miniatures I am sure she will come in handy for 7TV Pulp though I am tempted to give Pulp Alley a go at some point.

7TV Day IV Pulptastic! Plans Part 1

Next month sees the annual Wargames Illustrated 7TV day event again up at Wargames Foundry in Newark. The Pulp edition of 7TV has just hit the shelves after its debut and release at the Games Expo so the theme this year is Pulp.

I am still waiting on the Kickstarter that Crooked Dice did of the Stars and Co Stars to coincide with the Pulp boxed set which is due to arrive sometime this month. I have Sky Pirates which I am unsure how to turned into a cast at present so decided to go with a more simple cast idea. Cultists I have but I need some sort of gribblies which again CD are doing some in the near future so want to wait.

Which leaves Gangster types. Again CD are releasing some but I had a good rummage and found some figures that I hadn't painted that would be fit for purpose I found some that I had painted up as spy types which tbh were painted a very long time ago and never really used. So they went in the strip pot. I had the Underworld Boss from the Spy Fi version sitting in the to do box so he would do as Kingpin of Crime in case I don't get time to paint the kickstarter versions when they arrive. Also Jaws I had base on a larger base which never really looked right and he would make the perfect Hulking Henchmen so I broke him off his base and put it onto a standard 25mm round base.

The motley assortment. Jaws and the Underworld Boss by Crooked Dice, a Foundry Victorian Bobby which I swapped the head with a CD Lawman head. Hasslefree 'Not' Archer I converted into a Trigger man.
Rear row Hasslefree Leonard, Copplestone Gangster and a KKBB badguy. Statuesque Pulp mini now OOP and then a Pulp Figure Freaky Flunkie

I cut off the bottle in the left hand but left the top as I plan to paint it as a coin. The silenced Pistol I removed and spliced on a tommy gun from the bits box. I added the fore grip from a spare AK47.

London Bobby Conversion using a spare Crooked Dice Lawman head. I will use him as a Dirty Cop

Primed up.

Jaws rebased and finished off. He will make a good stand in.

Eyes and skin basecoating.

Getting some clothing onto them

Applying various washes. in the bottom of this pic I found some Artizan Thrilling tales minis that I have also stripped due to there age that might be useful, There is another one with a Tommy Gun so once I have these done may get fast tracked.

Slowly getting there onto Highlights and finishing off.
Finished this chap off first who I have nicknamed Big Jimmy!

Picked this up through the Local Library for some Pulp Inspired reading.
