Batman Miniature Game Aaron Cash and Quick Response Team

Been mega busy school holidays, camping and work. Had meant to post these a week ago and only just gotten around to writing up this post.

Anyway this is a Law crew expansion box. Aaron Cash and his Quick Response team (QRT's for short). Aaron Cash is one of the tougher guards of Arkham Asylum he hates Killer Croc who severed his hand. Cash is a Law Sidekick but can also be taken in a Batman crew as a Free Agent if Batman is present (Affiliation). The rest of the QRT who are henchmen rank can be taken by Law, Batman and Green Arrow lists including Organised crime and other lists with characters who have the Corrupt trait.

This set nicely boosts my Law forces with some really good henchmen. There are a lot of guns in which seem to be keep getting added to the game recently. These guys are a lot cheaper funding wise than SWAT guys meaning you still have room for equipment if you make up the rest of your crew the Funding free cops and Sidekicks. The whole pack comes in at a neat 150 rep $1000 funding.

Aaron Cash. 55 rep $150
Cash weighs in at 55 rep $150 funding as he has a standard 3 ammo shotgun (which is very cheap). I take him as my Boss meaning he his free of funding. Cash's stats are about average for his reputation cost he has good strength 4+, Attack 4 (meaning he can roll 4 dice) and a decent endurance of 6.

Cash has got some nice traits he has the claw trait meaning his basic attacks cause a single Blood/Stun damage instead of a single stun and at strength 4+ he has a good chance of wounding. No rerolls mind which is a shame but for his rep this is still good.

Cash and all his QRT's wear Bullet proof vests reducing the power somewhat of firearms. Cash also has Unstoppable meaning for every strike in melee you need to successfully block twice to stop one of his. Meaning some attacks will make it through.

Cash also has the searcher trait reducing your opponents Strategy points by 1. I intend to run him with Batwoman who also has Searcher reducing my enemies points by 2 as it stack. Meaning they can only take the cheaper less effective strategies.

Aaron cash is a single piece (yay!)

QRT 1 L Lawrence. 27 Rep $100
Lawrence carries a Riot gun with 3 ammo for only $100 funding which is a bargain it is RoF 2 (number of dice/shots per ammo) but only does double stun. Its got no range limit so can providing Lawrence can see you he can shoot you and its damage is Mechanical so wounds on 3+ and isn't affected by bullet proof vest either. If you manage to score a critical you stand a good chance of getting a KO as it can potentially put 6 stun damage on someone. The other weapon Lawrence carries is an extendable baton which has reach (melee attacks within 3cm) and heavy increasing his strength to 4+.

Traits wise all the QRT's have bulletproof vest and then come with an individual trait Lawrence's being Arrest allowing him to remove KO models as casualties. Stats wise they have decent Willpower 5 and a defense of 3 and Endurance 5 meaning they stick around that little bit longer compared to cheaper henchmen.

Lawrence comes in 3 pieces both his arms and body.

QRT 2 Salvador. 33 rep $350
This is one of my favourites from the set I love the look and the pose in particular. Salvador has exactly the same stats and traits as Lawrence. Salvador's individual trait is Street Guy meaning he can crouch for saving him a counter and increasing his pings against shooting by +1 to his ping rolls. Salvador's weapon is where he shines. Salvador is armed with a Custom Carbine. Carbines are medium range (40cm providing they can see a target past 30cm due to light restrictions) do less damage at only a single blood but have a RoF of 5 and it has the Assault X rule. Which is Assault 3 on Salvador meaning he can move and still fire off 3 shots. Its also equipped with a silencer meaning models with dodge can't dodge :) so he is good for hunting acrobats. Salvador also has an extendable baton as Lawrence does so adds a bit more combat muscle

Salvador's gun has 2 ammo so I think he is ideal to run forward and camp on ammo. Getting a bonus to his pings from crouching and  able to reload his Carbine from the objective. If he has no ammo left or is not on an ammo objective he can fight across it with the reach from his baton.

Salvador comes in two pieces his body and his weapon with the hands attached to it.

QRT 3 Jenette Vassilli. 35 rep $400

Vassilli is the most expensive of the 3 henchmen in the pack both in rep and funding. As you can tell by the pose the character is very much a sniper. Vassilli has a Precision Rifle with 4 ammo meaning she can shoot 4 out of 6 turns in most games. 2 are standard ammo which has no range cap is RoF 2 and does 2 Blood 1 Stun damage per shot.

Vassilli's second ammo is AP ammo (Armour Piercing). it is one use so can't be reloaded from ammo crates or be increased with equipment but it does 3 blood per shot and had the Anti-tank trait which ignores bullet proof vests and some other armour types. Vassilli must also Aim to use this ammo meaning she can't move at all even after shooting.

The third and final ammo is again one use and is AM Ammo (Anti Material I think?) this is only medium range only causes 2 blood damage but has the effect of Enervating 3 meaning once hit the target loses 3 of its Action Counters. Its not cumulative so I would probably split my shots just to get more of a benefit from it.  The loss of 3 counters can really mess with peoples plans and on most henchmen (usually Willpower 4/5) may even prevent them from activating other than to move as if it damages with its double blood they would lose an additional counter anyway from the double damage.

For Vassili's stats they remain the same as the others but for personal traits she has bullet proof as the others but has Radio (reroll lets go rolls. useful for a double activation after pinning a model down) and tracking which allows Vassili to place 2 counters into special and move 2d6 in the victory phase hopefully allowing her to line up a shot for the next round.

Vassili was a little bit fiddly to go together she comes in 4 parts body, the left leg, left arm and right arm with rifle. the leg was awkwardly cut and I had to do some filing and fillng to get a good fit and arrange the rifle properly.

Shot of the whole crew box.

I have a few more Batman miniatures coming up as I have got some reinforcements for my Penguin crew but I also am working on a load of Crooked Dice figures as I am going to there 7TV day at the Wargames Illustrated HQ in July so uber excited for that one.

Batman miniature Game SWAT Echo & Bravo

Working my through my Law models next up are a couple of the Swat team members. Echo is part of next tournament list and Bravo I need for a demo game I'm running this week for some friends.

These are older models and as such were a pain to put together. Echo was ok being the new Swat member in the Comissioner Loeb crew set but Bravo is old school coming with Comissioner Gordon and the other Swat members Alpha and Delta.

Both models come in several pieces. Legs, Torso, Arms and Head. Bravo's issue is you have to bend the shotgun to get them to fit onto the body and unfortunately its very hard to untwist. I've done the best I can with it and have seen quite a few noodly shotguns in my games.

Echo is very much an objective grabber he has good endurance and movement. A Bullet proof vest to mitigate firearms. Echo has gone through several errata over time adding Brutal allowing him to rerolls the collateral in order to increase the chance of getting the critical push that it does. Recently they added Lethal Blow which is a special attack which if successful renders your enemy senseless losing all there action counters.

Bravo also has the same stats as Echo good endurance and movement but his main use is mobile firepower with his shotgun. It is only single Rate of Fire so there is no downside to keeping still to increase it for more shots. Allowing you to just advance laying down fire as you advance up onto an objective. I find shotguns a bit hit and miss personally I always seem to miss when using mine lol

Batman Miniature Game Batwoman

The First Sidekick for my Law Forces crew finished (and of course she can be in a batman crew as well) Law Forces lists when being built tend to get very large numbers wise very quickly as they don't have many hard hitting models. They tend to have lots of firearms so the funding gets eaten up quickly leaving you to take lots of the Cheap Cops Gotham Policeman/Woman which you can take upto 3 of each.

Batwoman comes in at 95 rep so takes up a good chunk of reputation. Batwoman is a decent fighter, has a batclaw and has medium ranged remote control batarangs and night vision meaning they can used at there full range and ignore pings in there path. Batwoman is also has Searcher a trait you rarely see reducing your opponents strategy points by 1.

Batwoman also has the Criminology trait cancelling the runaway trait when within 30cm (Can't be arrested) so very useful for your cops arresting KO models. Especially hard hitting ones like Dark Knight Rises Bane.

I really enjoyed painting this model but as an older sculpt came in odd pieces. Namely a separate head and lower right leg...... Which annoyingly with how much the cape overhangs the base had to be pinned. I am hoping she survives gaming use and will be stored carefully. I have add some weight to the front to try and compensate for the cape.

I also had a disaster with the base coated model dropping the box I store them in breaking off the head and chipping the paint! I am glad she if finished as I really like the sculpt and look forward to using her on the table.

Batman Miniature Game Hawkman

Hawkman is another miniature I finished at the same time as AC Batman (Previous post). I had intended to attend the Animosity tournament with a new Birds of Prey list of Batgirl, Katana and both Hawk man and Hawk Girl. Only getting distracted by some of the new Suicide boxed set models changing my Crew preference at the last minute. Another wonderful mini easy to assemble. I had to way down the base as the wings make him a bit top heavy. I think he should've had the Large trait and been put on a 40mm base personally.  The recent FAQ Knight models have released have introduced changes to the Birds of Prey Team in a tournament setting. Whoever you choose as boss gains +1 Willpower, Reinforced Gloves (double stun damage) and the Leadership trait. Which is a nice touch as there girls leaders are quite soft and squishy really.  I think it should be added to the team rules permanently rather just at tournaments. It gives a nice boost to Black Canary and Batgirl if they are in charge.

The Hawks special fly high rule has taken a blow in the latest FAQ as well they have introduced a new trait called 'unnatural flight' which means when the return they can no longer use there basic move distance on the return to the table. Meaning they can't strike then fly off in the same turn. Will have to rethink the strategy with them both now.

Batman Miniature Game Arkham City Batman

I got him finished shortly after the last Zomtober post a week or so ago and only just got around to writing the post for him! As I have been busy preparing for the tournament I just attended in my previous post.

With the Suicide Squad box due to land (its arrived now) and it coming with a new version of Batman (Ben Affleck version) I have gave myself a kick up the arse to get my first Batman for the Batman game painted as I love the Batfleck version of Batman I wanted to get this Arkham City version of Batman done as it would of probably  been bumped down the paint queue. This version of Batman is considered to be one of the most well balanced stat and trait wise. I am looking forward to trying the Dark Knight out as I have yet to play as him and only faced the Frank Miller version so far. I have pretty much copied the colours from the Studio job (using my own paint colours).

Batman Miniature Game Oliver Queen (DKR) & Zomtober is coming!

Another Batman mini finished. The last few have shared similar pallettes so bits have been done on other models as I've finished others off. This time its Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) as he appears in the Frank Miller comics and movie Dark Knight Returns (Cracking series in 2 parts some ideas are perhaps a little old fashioned) Anyway here he is with his Kryptonite Arrow note he is one armed as well and still able to use his bow!

Quite the quirky character in the film I'll have to at some point pick up the other Frank Miller related items from Knight models and get a crew together.

A leader in Green Arrow he can be taken in a Batman crew with his affinity Batman trait allowing him to be fielded as a Free Agent. However for know I plan to use him as a much cheaper leader for my green Arrow crew he only has two types of Arrow standard and Kryptonite but they cause a little bit more damage. Loses rapid fire like most his other versions but gains bonuses to hit instead making him more likely to hit. Still gets his hook arrow (bat claw) Oliver is a tough old boot with decent endurance and desensitised means he still has his full action counters until he gets taken down. Useful to pair up with Flash (TV) and still have plenty of reputation left for selecting a few Free Agent or cops.

In other news its coming upto Zomtober again yay! Time for zombie and survivor painting!

The rules
The rules are simple. To take part just paint one Zombie or Survivor (or more!) each week, in any scale you like, posting it to your blog by the Sunday (we use Sunday's as the end of each week). So that means one or more minis each week on or before the 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd and 30th of October. Very simple,

Crap I better get cracking for the first entry!

Batman Miniature Game Hawkgirl

Another Batman figure completed. This time it is the Free Agent Hawkgirl. I intend to use her in my Birds of Prey team for now. Hawkgirl however can be used in both  Batman and Green Arrow crews as a Free Agent also. Stat/trait wise Hawkgirl seems highly mobile being able to fly and good against henchmen but not so much big hitters like batman or bane.

Batman Miniature Game Bat Girl

Another Batman miniature finished. This time Batgirl this heralds the beginning of another new rew. I have painted her to join my other heroic ladies in a Birds of Prey team however Batgirl is a sidekick in a Batman crew. With some Gotham Police already done I only need to add a few more characters to have a bat crew ready to go.

Batgirl is quite cheap coming in at 59 rep. I see her main role as being a mobile objective grabber using her batclaw to move about and weakening henchmen with her batlings before either finishing them off with a sneak attack or for one of the other Birds to put them down.

This model is a real git to put together cap and hair is one piece. Head and Body then both legs are separate which join together to form a cup for the body. Also the leg is a very obvious weak point. I ended up drilling up through foot and put a very large L shaped pin in order to add some support mainly because I can see her being dropped at that ankle being bent. I also pinned the legs body and cape. The hardest part was getting the body to joining the cup of the legs smoothly and I made a bit of mess if I'm honest. Black is very forgiving so don't look to closely lol!

Batman Miniature Game Black Canary.

Another quick post before the weekend is over. Finished off this weekend is Black Canary another Free agent who can be used for both Green Arrow and Batman crews. Black Canary has hidden deployment and has a Sonic Scream attack which uses a template and those affected are rendered senseless as well as taking damage.

I really like the model the only couple of annoying things is again the tactical rock which i've disguised by adding more rubble. The second is the way the arms join the body. Basically they were removed for mould making in an odd way and there was no obvious way of connecting them easily. In the end I glued them on as best I could after some filing. But I then had to pin and fill the gaps after they broke off once first being assembled.

Black Canary is also a member of the Birds of Prey. In the expansion there are some new rules for 'teams' of heroes which won't follow the normal rules for building a crew. I don't know as yet how it works but the images that Knight models have teased so far includes one of picture of the Birds of Prey fighting the Suicide Squad. So Black Canary can join the already done Huntress and Katana. I want to pick up Bat Girl at some point another member of the BoP and also someone who can be in LAW and Batman Crews.

Batman Miniature game Katana

Busy work schedule has meant not much going on in Brummie towers. I managed to get one figure finished this week as well as a little bit more work on some post apoc ruins.

First up the BMG (Batman miniature game) Figure I finished this week is Katana. Katana is a Free agent and shows up in various comics with Birds of Prey and her own story arc. I really love this character she is armed with a soul taker Katana which carries the soul of her dead husband within it. I have recently read her comics and they are pretty dam awesome.

In the BMG Katana is Free Agent available to both Green Arrow and Batman crews and offers some close combat support doing blood damage with her sword which is nice as a lot of these crews tend to do a lot of stun which you can heal. Katana also packs some shuriken for a little bit or ranged punch and has some nice little buffs and debuffs she can do with Precise Blow and Feint traits.

Terrain wise I returned to some my Mantic ruins and added some more texture to the bases ready for painting. It needs sealing again with black paint/pva.

I also picked up some cheap trees from China and have begun to have a little play with them. I need to mock up some standard tree bases rather than the post apoc themed one below.  I think they look quite decent.

The 10cm tree

 The 8cm tree

Also picked up a cheap Topiary ball from Home Bargains for £2 the leaves are quite small on these. I plan to snip it off and to some of the ruins and onto the car above.
