This weeks update and a big THANK YOU

First of all the big THANK YOU goes to Colin or cmnash of http://downamongtheleadmen.blogspot.co.uk has very kindly sent me a sheet of laser cut roof tiles from Warbases to help me with my building project for NMRIH 1888 and Empire of the Dead. I think the tiles are far to good to go on the cottages that I have just finished so I will keep them and make a new building sometime next month. A big thank you sir you are gentlemen and a scholar!

Here some pictures of the finished buildings and scenery. I've managed to get some scouring pads to make some hedges but not done anything with them yet

The three cottages are finished, Though I have notice in the pictures I need to paint the underside of the roof's doh! I change the roof's  design at the last minute realising I wanted to have figures on the top of them. So they have been reshaped to accommodate that. The scale has still crept a little the chimneys are a little to large I wanted to be able to have some cover on top of them.

Finished four members my Wulfen Jaegar Club.

Group shot with the first members all thats left is the dog (which is due any day now).

  1. How busy have you been? I feel it puts me to shame. Well done, looking good, the redesigned roof works well. Another idea to steal.

Might I suggest that the chimneys are the wrong end of the buildings though. Ideally they should be in the midle to center the fire and heat the whole house. Where you have them the stone of brick chimney would block the door and windows. Minor point I know, but if an easy fix I feel a better solution.

Sorry to be so picky as I do like what you have done and it's meant as a constructive comment not to hack you off!

  2. Looking very nice indeed mate!

Really like your piles of wood and the wooden fences. It adds a bit of realism to it all.

  3. Looking good, so far. One of the first things that i noticed was what Clint commented on, and that's the placement of your chimneys. If you just flip your roof sections through 180 degrees that should solve the problem. You did make the roofs detachable, didn't you?

  6. @Clint LOL I have no mate problem hints and tips are great, I'm making terrain from scratch having not done much before so any feedback Is positive to improve things.

@Lord Siwoc, Cheers I need some more LOS blocking stuff besides building as the first few scenarios aren't set in the town.

@ Vampifan you nailed I have put the roof's on backwards they are supposed to be at the rear! I'm storing stuff in side them to save on space and didn't really think about whilst taking pics this morning doh!

@Adam indeed but I can also use this terrain for the other settings as well

  7. This looks to be a fun set up. A few trees, some torches and pitchforks later, and job's a good un.

    1. Indeed. I need some more LOS blocking terrain tall trees and a couple o'hills as some factions don't have that much ranged fire power

  9. Looking good Brumster, and I hope you get good use from the roof tiles! still not used my set yet :(

The flat roofs!! Such a simple yet brilliant idea! There's me thinking of making strangely shaped stands so I can put figures on roofs and you come up with this brilliant solution!! Well done!

    1. Its mainly because there is a hitch-up rule in the EotD rule book where people can help you climb over walls and stuff. So decided to flatten the roof's slightly to accommodate this. I can just imagine a Werewolf climb over the roof to get at its prey :D

  13. Nice work on the cottages, I also really like the fences and wooden log piles! The real wood/twigs make it look really real... I know they are real, but hopefully you get what I mean and I don't just sound silly!! lol

  14. Building things to scale doesn't work too well with playability, but having an actual place for miniatures to stand on the roof is a great idea, if you ask me!
