7TV Post Apocalyptic Event Part 2

Just an update really. Been a busy month and things have not progress as fast as I would of liked. Lord Humungus's Wartruck is steadily getting there. I've done some bits of painting on the figures but nothing is finished yet.

I've added the truck floor and added some skirts for the wheels.  I've also added in a ram/plate to the front. Still not sure about adding on victims to the front.

The engine block has been tidied and glued in place. As you can see I can still fit on a driver and 2 passengers.

I've build the rear part and assembled a spoiler. Next up is to trim out the sides of the rear section. Then do add in some piping and other detail bits.

Mean while I've also been cleaning up tons of Fantasy minis for the 7TV event in February next year. Won't be painting any of these for a while as I am not sure what theme I'm going to follow.

7TV Post Apocalypse Event.

November 21st see the Dales Wargaming club holding a 7TV day. If your up that way and fancy coming along or joining their regular monthly meet then here is a FB Group Link.

The theme this time is Apocalypse including vehicles which is a first since I went to the Wargames Foundry one a few years back when we were playtesting the rules. Its a 50 rating game so should be a good total to include a couple of vehicles and some a couple of stars then a few extras.

I have one vehicle already which I took to the previous event but fancied bashing together a vehicle for the event. Looking through my collection of unpainted minis I found the Crooked Dice version of the Lord Humongous and a bunch of Savages and Warboys that I could use the event as an excuse for painting them. But first what vehicle to build?

I went through my lead pile finding a buggy, Super Cooper, Hummer and an interceptor but none fit my idea really and to flesh out casts for these would require me to spend more cash which I am currently saving to pickup the 7TV Fantasy set. So sticking to use what I have I have decided to have a bash at building Lord Humungous's Battle Wagon. My only criteria is I want to be able to have models on it. So It may be less realistic but more practical.

Digging through my vehicle collection I found a couple of these Russian Diecasts (which were in poundland for a while) which I've never really done anything much with. They had got slightly damage mainly the canvas tarps coming off. So I disassmbled them both and the cut one of the base chassis in half. I then used some plastic bits to make a new flat bed to build up the wagon from

I have made a rough engine block shape using a block of putty and then using the same plastic to cover the block and then added the biro ink refill as exhausts.

I've also finished off my bikers base and primed him ready for painting.

I think I prefer the central position as it allows me to put a figure at the front.

I've added the grills at the front that the prisoners are tied to in the movie. Still not sure what I am going to do about that part yet!

I plan to add a layer of card over the top and trim in the skirts and then make the front foot plate/ram.

Burrows and Badgers Frog Burgher

Another Burrows mini that has sat half painted for way to long. The Frog Burgher model by Oathsworn miniatures has a bit of a Henry the VIII vibe to him clothing wise. I quite like the arrogant pose so I have painted him in bright clothes with a nice sparkly gold breast plate and I shall use him as a Duelist/Dandy.

Star Wars Legion Bothan Commander/Spy

This weekend Board in Brum is holding a 7TV Day this time it is a Star Wars themed event. It is using the Free Fan made Star Wars guide or you can use a cast made from the Spy Fi ruleset.

Having a read through the Star Wars Programme Guide I decided on making a Rogue One themed crew. I have reskinned some Characters from the Spy Fi and Dept X co stars to make up some cards for Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and K2S0. I will use the Rebel Commando Strike Team from the guide to use as Extras.

Models wise I can just use the models from the Legion core set for commandos however part of the unit requires a Bothan Spy and Demolition Expert. The Demo expert is an easy one to substitute as I can use one of my recently Gran Trooper Specialist has a suitable satchel and backpack. The Bothan is a bit trickier as currently there aren't any models by FFG for them. Browsing around I found that Skull Forge do a Bothan Commander model so when I picked up some 3D prints of some of the other Rogue One Characters (Chirrut and Baze) I picked up the Commander to use as a spy and of course later I can use him in Legion as a Rebel Unit leader. SkullForge has licensed printers in various locations around the world the UK one is Proteus 3D they have the entire range though if they aren't listed on the site just email them with what you are after and they are really happy to accommodate.

The prints themselves are really nice. Next to no clean up is required and when primed the detail is fab. I have Cara Dune, Ahsoka, Chirrut, Baze and a generic Pathfinder mini that I just liked the look of but I think it is by Darkfire Designs. I also requested some Star Wars Legion bases to be printed as well as only premium ones seem to available officially and they were really happy to do that for me. I shall certainly be picking up some more to prints later on to add a bit of variety to my units.

Burrows and Badgers Squirrel Clan Warrior

This one has sat basecoated for a while waiting for me to feel in the mood to try and paint on a tartan pattern on his kilt. As I have been using my rust and orange paints I did the fur on him and then finished him off this week whilst working on my Thundercats and Star Wars stuff. I think it looks ok from 3ft away. The main bit that I struggled with was the sash around the body. as its different width caused me a bit of an issue maintaining the pattern. I also feel that the base colour needed to be darker perhaps but I also wanted him to match up with all my other squirrels.

Crooked Dice Beastman Hero 2 Lion O

Have been a way on my Holidays for the last two weeks of August had a week in Devon followed by a nice chilled week at home where I mostly caught up on chores. Didn't get much painting though I did prep some minis to be primed. Anyway this week I got the second of  the Beastman Heroes pack done this time Lion O. I've also bought some stl files of the Thundertank and commissioned a friend with a resin printer to print it for me. I am hoping Crooked Dice do the other good beastman heroes as I can't even figure out a way of converting Wilykit and Wilykat and snarf.
