WMMS 2014 Loot Post

Went to the West Midlands Military Show on Sunday run by the Alumwell Wargames Society. Just on the outskirts of Wolverhampton so to local not to miss really!

Picture courtesy of Doctor Warlock Thanks!
I persuaded fellow blogger Pulp Citizen to come and I picked him up just after half nine and we got there for just after ten it was quite busy but we didn't have to queue to get in we did a quick recon around the trade stands then met up with another blogger Rob Bresnen and his son Charlie and then the four of us toured all the trade stands again properly trying to persuade each other to buy things we needed (lol well nearly) It was nice to eye up potential purchases and ogling stuff in the flesh. There was a great deal of MDF Building there from various sellers and I've spotted some awesome ruins that are really well priced I grabbed a card and intend on ordering me a load later in the year.
As you can see there was a good selection of traders all carrying a good variety of manufacturers. Ainsty Castings was a great stand loads of resin goodness all painted up on display. I may pick his his post apoc set at £50 its a bargain especially seeing it in the flesh. There was also an awesome crashed metro train which may well get bought for Across the Dead Earth!

There was good bring and buy stand as well with quite a mix of stuff available.

There was lots of display stands with aircraft, busts and various vehicles kit all painted up from all sorts of movies Space 1999 etc.

There was some military jeeps and WW2 weapons as well as some people dressed up in redcoats but I forgot to look at what period they where covering!

List of all the traders.

I really must apologise I totally forgot to take any pictures even though I took my camera with me.
I did take two photos of the Empire of the Dead Gyrocopter and Time machine as they where nicely painted and had the crew in which are hard to find photos of. They looked ok at the time but when I got home the reflection off the cabinet has killed the picture and you can't really see a great deal!

We all had a spot of lunch met up with Doctor Warlock for a chat and then went looking at all the Gaming display tables. There was Flames of War various Napoleonics, a cool Lebanon battlefield (looked Cold war type period) it had loads of tanks but it looked ace.

We all the popped around the trade stands picking up a few more impulse purchases and visiting some of the traders that where by now a little bit quieter.

My Loot. Not a great deal really The Wargames Factory Male Survivors and have been on my to get list. Picked them up from Scarab Miniatures I think. Bottom right are some figures from Four A miniatures Jim and the Fix it Crew and then a totally random purchase of a British Telephone box and Post box of course for ADE.

I Have to Give Leon (Pulp Citizen) a big thank you as well as upon picking me him up he handed me a box with some spare Pulp City figures in that he had spare. I didn't get round to looking at them until I got home and I have to say they are pretty awesome. I also got given a resin figure that although not quite an official Pulp City figure is themed with the game in mind and is also quite rare as Leon had him commissioned to be made and he is one of thirty copies!

Ace of Wraiths, Dr mercury, Green Serpent is top right and the Commissioned fig Doc Cosmos. They are really nice figs I'm going to get some nice resin bases for them and paint them as display pieces but hey you never know I may start getting to the game!

  1. Looks like a nice show. venue looks very suitable, not too crowded allowing traders room and buyers room to see things. The games look good from a distance. Yeah you forgot to take Pics, well that happens to us all now and again. But it does sound like you had a good day out, which is the main thing.

  2. Looks like a great show!
I have to say again the male kit is certainly one of the best purchases for moderns anyone can ever make! :D

The telephone box is just too British to miss, too. As for Pulp Citizen's gift...heck, I'd take him to a show with me any time! :D

  3. Good looking show and you must have been fairly restrained too as their were quite a lot of traders.

    1. I spent most my cash that I took with me. Saving money for the Across the Dead Earth Kickstarter that finishes end of the month.

  4. I wish I could have came with you, Simon but as with most conventions it was just too far to travel. Perhaps one day I'll make it. That was a nice haul you picked up, even if it was restrained.

  5. Too far for me as well, but I'm glad you had a good time. Did you get to play anything, or were you just looking?

  7. There's nothing so satisfying as gazing at your haul of swag after a show, until you become aware of your empty wallet!
